Default Dominican?

Do you guys think this horse can compete on a regular dirt surface or is he just a polytrack warrior?

Either...he will be overlooked. My place bet behind Nobiz.

I think that he's getting good at the right time. He has a credible race over a real dirt surface and they had some issues with the horse as well. I don't know that I think he's your winner, but he certainly seems like one of the many contenders to me.

Keep in mind he has gotten good coinciding with being snipped. Not a coincidence.

The ground he made up on SS in the last 1/8th, makes me think he can compete. Poly, turf or dirt, making that kind of move against a proven closer, with soft fraction makes it look even better. Alot of critics will say speed was not holding up at Keenland, but I want to know where was the speed here? No speed just someone in front.

Let's just say that a lot of males would do a lot better if they got snipped. :P

(just don't come near me with that stuff!!)

I think he can compete, and will make it known on Saturday.
I don't buy into the talk about being a poly-only horse.
This horse showed me something in the Bluegrass.

Ditto..He closed pretty nicely into some very very soft fractions..Kentucky derbies are not run in the manner of which the Bluegrass was..The pace will be hotter come 5/5, will that work to his advantage or will he just be farther back off the pace?? Time will tell, but I think he has a shot at the top..

He's getting good at the right time...would be no surprise with a "in the money" finish...
still question whether he can duplicate that effort on "real" dirt.

I think the Derby will play right into his style. He probably would have won the Bluegrass by a couple lengths had it been run at the pace the derby will be run. I hate to start jumping the gun until I see the posts. But, RIGHT NOW, unless he draws the rail or extreme outside, I think he's a major contender.

He is a tough one to figure. I think I am going to toss him simply because I like for a horse to have shown SOMETHING on dirt before I bet him. For me he is a toss but (unlike several others in here) he is a scary toss.

Its safe to say he's a totally different horse without his luggage flappin around down there...He hasnt run on the dirt SINCE then, so noone really can put a finger on this horse to go one way or the other..Like i said, time will tell with this horse more than any other..Bejarano has to win a TC race sooner or later, or no?

With his value being on the track, he is the most likely millionair of the bunch, even without a derby win..

Default Why not Dominican?

I just can't figure out why Dominican is such a long shot. This horse has great beyers figures and great fractions. He showed a great turn of foot in the last race (Yeah, I know about slow pace. You still have to give credit for the closing speed and heart). He can run with Street Sense.

I understand he has not won on dirt. But, is the track surface really that big of deal. It was awhile ago. He is now very sharp.

Regardless of surface, I am certain Carl Lewis would still have won the 1984 Olympics in 100 m. Fast is fast! Is horse racing really that much different?

Alright, bombs away.

I am an amature. Be kind. Explain

Don't get talked off a horse in here. If you like him in your gut, go with him. Its the Derby, there are 20 horses, so many things can happen....He'll finish ahead of Street Sense.
