What happens when *I* go to the track....

I come home with about a $3.00 in winnings, a slight buzz and..... a 4 yr. old filly!! I'm sucha sucker for a nice horsie! I'm going to retrain her for a trail and/or dressage horse. At some point I will probably breed her. She is by Straight Man out of a Silver Deputy mare. Got burned out on the track. You should have seen her running around my pasture. She sure looks FAST to me!! I have to go put her in a stall now, but just wanted to share my news with fellow racehorse fans.

If I am remembering correctly, he was a decent and very nice race horse. Didn't he have an awesome son or daughter too? One that was pretty famous? Am I thinking of the correct horse?

Thanks Cajun. I remember this horse because my friend worked for a trainer that trained some of their horses.

He really is a beautiful stallion.

What is the filly's name largo? If you don't mind me asking.

Thanks guys!! I knew some of you would be excited for me. Most of my friends(non-horsepeople) have NO clue what I'm *ever* talking about!!
The mare's name is "Canagua" . I don't know what it means other than possibly the town in Brazil, or "can of water"??¿¿ Who knows? I purchased her from the trainer/owner as a private transaction, not a claim. Doesn't have much of a race record. Mostly running at Thistledown here in *lovely* NE Ohio(!!!, no, actually, parts of this area are lovely) From what I watched on Racereplays.com, she mostly broke well, then gave up. I just brought her home today. I let her buddy up to my Arab gelding in the pasture for a couple hours, now she's resting in the barn. I didn't want her to get too much grass, since she's not used to it. She's got a wonderful disposition and is very "girly" looking. I'll let her get used to turnout with my gelding before I introduce her to my other 2 mares. Geeez, I feel like a kid in a candy store!! I've had horses for 20 years and still get all excited by them!!!

Absolutely nothing wrong with getting excited by horses. I think it is awesome what you are doing!

Canagua raced a few times at Calder a couple summers ago. I am 99% sure of it. She was in the race with Rapid Flow.

Yes, she did race at Calder her first 3 starts. She ran for a 20,000 tag her first time out,,,Rapid Flow won. Is that your horse?

Also, I just pulled her papers out to look at them, and see she is nominated to The Breeder's Cup. I know LOTS of horses are nominated at birth, doesn't really mean anything, but I am getting a kick out of it!! I might even frame that little certificate and add it to my ever growing "wall of racing" memorabilia/photos. Wheeeeee, this is fun!!

No, he was a Greenwood Lake and I followed his foals for a certain reason.

And Geeez, Exceller, you have a great memory!! I'm lucky if I can remember what day it is!!! Of course, I work 3 jobs, that might have something to do with the faulty memory. So far I've always shown up at the right place on the right day and at the right time. *Of course*, if I didn't spend a kabillion $$$ on my horses, I could probably work *just* one job, like most normal people!! LOL!!

I said 99% for a reason, I wasn't positive. Your horse has an interesting name and that is why I thought it might be her. She is probably named for the river or village, which is big with white water rafters, but I still remember the name and thinking can of agua. Cute name either way.
