Default Massive stellar explosion

In a cascade of superlatives that belies the traditional cerebral reserve of their profession, astronomers reported today that they had seen the brightest and most powerful stellar explosion ever recorded.

Got to come up with a new model for a star's lifetime now. It was too big.
And as always they said it expolded "today" which is a relative time term which is also always interesting.

me or you?

I think the earth still has about 5 billion years or so left. Give or take a few hundred million. So if you were planning a vacation you still have time. I think we can both make it to Toga given the estimates above.

If our sun does happen to expand earlier than I thought, my survival plan involves my dog's carcass providing a protective cocoon of burning canine effluence.

Your survival strategy would be...

Opening week at Toga is big, gotta have a workable plan.
