The most foolish Preakness post...
...wherein I lamely attempt to make a case for longshot hitting the board. That is almost always a fool's game, at least when I am doing it.
First, if this race is not strongly paced, I do not seen how either HS or Curlin fails to win, unless both bounce quite badly (possible). If this is your scenario, play them with some horses likely in the second flight of horses (KoTR, CPW). I am going to play it (if I play it at all) as definitely a more-than-average paced race; if it is not, I lose, no question about it. I agree one must try to beat SS to win at his price, hoping he doesn't get the "best trip this side of Moses" again. But in a tri, i don't have to beat him, IF a genuine longshot can make it up there with him. If I play, I am going to toss in Mint Slewlep. He has only won two races--which were two of the three two-turn races he's been in. His other two-turn race was trying to close into a SLOW Gotham on a 5 month layoff. He looks to be bred for the trip as well. I will cheaply key him underneath the genuine closers SS & CQ, and put a small WP bet on him (with P being double of W). And that's it. If I miss, no biggie, because I am going to invest probably no more than 15-20% of what I put in the Derby (where I managed a $1.10 ROI, notwithstanding that 2 of my 3 key horses did not hit the board). This race is not one to blow your guts out on. OK, you have permission to laugh now (if you haven't already). |

Oh for the love of mike sir.
I read your post and still feel unqualified to hack it up.....I can't beat what you've already done. Paint eyes and a mouth on your folded hand and make your fingers move to simulate a talking face. Spirits are invited to this avenue into our world.Your hand will then tell you how to rewrite this mess. |
