Default No Bandini in Suburban

Looks like Bandini is out. Not exactly a great field in my opinion.

It will be a nice betting race. The sky will be blue on Saturday and the sun will be shining. The Red Sox will beat the Mets again tonight for #11 in a row. I love gummy bears and watermelon.

Pedro will take down the Sox tonight. Tough getting excited with a 12 game lead.

I will bet you a pound of gummy bears the Red Sox win the game tonight.

You on?

They have to be good quality, not the cheap kind you get at grocery stores. The real stuff they sell at candy stores.

Fine. Are you one of the Saratoga guys. I will be up there for the Jim Dandy and the Test, so I can collect either weekend. I will take a pound of swedish fish.

Tim, are you going to say every single race that doesn't include Flower Alley is a crappy race like you did last year with the Suburban or this year with the New Orleans Handicap that only featured Brass Hat, et. al.?

The problem is that every year the older horse division seems to get thinner and thinner and thus these Grade 1s get fields of mediocrities. It isn't like last year's Suburban was a good field either.

To be honest, I much prefer a competitive race, like last year's running and perhaps this year's, to a pretty uncompetitive field save one horse, like Mineshaft's win. And, at least they are a slightly higher grade of mediocrity that the co-featured Mother Goose is attracting.

Slot-
Brass Hat is a likeable guy. How can I not root for a man name Buzz?
I would put him on the respectable 2nd tier of older horses with maybe Buzzards Bay, Perfect Drift and Funny Cide. The first tier includes the Lava Man, Surf Cat and Flower Alley. Thats it.

As far as the Suburban, I am all for it. I love competitive betting races. The public will have no clue as to who to bet.

Whats up with the sprint division this year? Can you make any sense of it?
Is Anew for real, is Bordonaro physically not stable, what happened to Don Six?

I don't agree, not with Corinithian pointing for it. I'm very intrigued (as a fan of his) to see how he's developed since his injury; he's so talented, and if he's grown up some since, he's going to be a good one.

Easy having a 12 game lead in the NL East. Pedro done after 3...8-1 Sox.
That being said, I grew up watching Pedro Martinez pitch for the Sox, and I kind of feel for the man, it is clear he didnt want to be out there tonight...

Pedro cost me a pound of fish. He needed a good beating and so did the Mets. They have gotten way too arrogant with their big lead. His gimme double play he forgot to turn proved he was being lazy and wasn't mentally prepared to pitch. I guess I can't blame him.

Part of me likes seeing the Red Sox win and keep the Yankees 4 back in the loss column. I love the Mets but a 12 game lead in a terrible division leads to boredom for the fans and I would imagine the players. The games mean absolutely nothing. They have put themselves in a situation where we get to wait around for months for the playoffs. Right now my attention has just turned to rooting against the Yankees, that is how boring it has gotten.

The Mets need to tinker with the roster and get another pitcher anyway. If Pelfrey works out and they get another pitcher they will be set for the playoffs. Especially with El Duque. Pedro might be the #3 come playoff time.

LOL! That sounds funny.

Agree, its never a bad thing rooting against the Yankees.

A Rod's HR turned my stomach today. As soon as it left the bat, I turned off the TV. Saw no reactions at all, I knew that was gone.

My hatred for the Yankees is not quite on par with my hatred for the Braves, so his homerun didn't really bother me because any Brave loss is a good loss.

As for the Sox, we won when it counted.

Corinthian was not nominated to the Dwyer.

I hate both teams as well. Have hated the damn Braves ever since Sid Bream slid into home just before Bonds throw got to Lavalliere in the 92 NLCS - I was 5 years old and have hated the Braves since. Really pissed me off when the Braves used the promo slogan "Where were you when Sid slid?" to promote themselves. First time I ever cried over a sporting event
