Default Kip Deville Coming Back in 5 Days

I heard they are supplementing Kip Deville to the Californian. That means he would be coming back in 5 days. That is very surprising. I guess they figure that the race on Monday didn't take anything out of him since he never really got a chance to run. It will be interesting to see if they actually run him. It looked like it was going to be a 6 horse field. I think that is one of the reasons they supplemented him. But it turns out that it's going to be a 12 horse field. If he does run, it will be the first time in a while that he's run on something other than the grass.

Is this the race that Perfect drift is shipping in for?
With that size of field, could be an interesting betting race.

well I agree that he didn't put in his run last weekend. he looked bottled up to me for the majority of the race which I don't think is where he wants to be. What is the distance of the Californian?

Doesn't matter, Kip will just add more money to the bankroll when he runs 5th. Just some pissed off connections because they didn't run well and think it was because of the trip.

no doubt you are right about the disappointment part, but I wouldn't necessarily dismiss him until knowing who he is facing. This horse has serious speed. I am in the group that thinks his loss was in part due to the trip.

These junk tracks give an advantage to turf horses so why not run?

I'm a big Kip fan but there's no way he wins this. . . I'd expect him to need a LONG break after this race. . .

Considering Kip Deville could be a Breeders Cup Mile favorite, they would be morons to run him back so quick for this race. They should be setting their eyes on the Turf Eclipse, not this race.

I would bet he is one of the top 3 in the ML. I would take him over any American horse at 1 mile. His effort at Keeneland against Showing Up made me a believer. I think the beyer was around 105.

Dutrow has done it before (and will do it again) -- and has been successful at it. I guess we will soon see.
