![]() Good for them. I tell people all the time it's much better to take that $5 they're playing on the lottery and toss it on the P6, and this story proves it.

![]() I took my Mom to the track once and she picked horse based on names... she did a $5 exacta box on two horses that had names similar to her own and my brother - needless to say, she hit it and it paid her over $200. After that she told me, "I see why you like this horse racing stuff so much"

![]() Two years ago at Saratoga I arrived just as they were loadiing the gate for the second race.
I didn't have time to look the race over but I wanted some action. So I wheeled my wife's favorite number 6 without even looking over the odds. Needless to say the 6 won at 21-1 and the place horse (Naughty New Yorker's maiden voyage) was 68-1. 2400 exacta. Good Times. |

![]() On the show yesterday I talked about this dad/daughter and their score.. While not 'horseplaying' as we know it and love it, there is a school of thought out there that feels utilizing large pools as lottery-style incentive for new or very casual 'players' has potential and should be exploited by the industry.
Given the size of the pot that day, playing "lotto-style" in races with (let's say) fields made up of 8, 7, 10, 6, 9 & 7 horses offers a far better chance of a hit than drawings where the six numbers chosen come from a 'field' of 60 numbers in the six slots... Obviously the odds of hitting in a field generated a universe of 8x7x10x6x9x7 are outrageously better than than that generated off a field of 60x59x58x57x56x55. Given how intoxicating the racetrack is, any exposure to it has potential to generate real fans.. The "auto-generated" P6 or Superfecta "Lotto" ticket has legitimate potential for fan base growth...
