I thought this was a cool idea, but would probably only work in Louisiana. Great way to bring a few people to the track to see some great riders...

Me neither. Ended up we couldn't go b/c of Friday and work.
By the time we got off work and able to leave it was to late to try and get through Baton Rouge rush hour on a Friday, we would have missed many of the races. Very disappointed we couldn't get there and the coverage on TVG sucked.
Had to listen to Schrupp singing horse names for Hollywood races instead of watching the jockey challenge or any other track....made me crazy.

They had an autograph session and lunchon but they were earlier in the day!!! How dumb is that. Now if that would have been done on a Saturday, they could have made a day of it and tons more people could have made it. Hopefully they will learn and make it on a Saturday or Sunday next year. But I will say it was a nice event and all were very gracious.

It looked and sounded like it was really fun the little bit they showed, really wish we could have gotten there.
Chris Kutuluak sounded like he was passing a really good time...LOL
Tried to get off on Friday that didn't work then tried to get off early, but it just to late to get thru BR, dang that BR traffic these days.
Glad you got to go and enjoyed it, I knew it would be a nice event in Cajun Country.
Hopefully they will do something at the Fairgrounds this year, and maybe EVD will do something again, this time hopefully on a Sat.

Good question.
Looked like Donnie had almost full card at LaD, but he rode at EVD on champion nite 6/30. And didn't Lonnie get hurt or was sick or something, I think he's been off mounts for a little while. I haven't been following LaD.

The problem with w/e challenge would be getting the jockeys to commit to it
as various other tracks have stakes races running for more money

Missed Eddie D, but Kent????? Yeah he wasnt missed, atleast by me. Sorry still bitter about the whole Kotashan thing....freaking idiot! I know, I know its been years and years but how do you misjudge the finish in a multi million dollar race???? Then have the B*lls to complain to everyone who will listen how doing that will affect YOU. I realize that its years in the past but thats how I feel, and I just havent been able to like him since then. Maybe if he had been alittle more sorry, and I mean for the connections and the horse not himself, I might have forgiven him but no way jose!!

They said that Eddie D. was scheduled to be there, but had flight problems and wasn't going to arrive in time.
Same for Shane Sellers, regardless of Sellers controversy, he was still a leading jock from cajun country. Not commenting just relaying what was said.
Kent D. was never discussed as being one of the jocks.

That's why I think something at the Fairgrounds would be great, they all ride there except Calvin, hopefully he could be convinced to come down to NOLA, and the purses are really good at the Fairgrounds, lots of big stakes days too. Lot easier for us to get to the Fairgrounds even if it was on a Friday. It would be good for NOLA too.

True and sure Calvin would come also.
