![]() What really is sad and i'm sorry that i don't have the link to it anymore but i think my mom might,is the differential in the amount of noble prize winners that are jewish and those that are Muslim is staggering. Many people are unaware that the first cell phone was invented by Motorola in Israel and the first remote control was invented their and countless other things that we use everyday in our lives as well as medical advances. After WW11 it could have been very easy for Jewish people to blame everyone for their fate but instead they decided not to play the blame game and do something positive and constructive with their lives. As in any walk of life if all you do is concentrate on the past and blame others for your plight you'll never have a future. Some of you might think i'm biased because i'm jewish but i think this is reality.

i have to also say tho, that i'm always embarrassed to be a human being when i see pictures from the holocaust. we're supposed to be the 'civilized' animal. boy, that's a laugh when you look at things people have done to their fellow man. but hopefully finally the jewish people have found their place, and will keep it--and in peace! your father sounds like quite a guy by the way.

"The Palestinians are beasts walking on two legs." -- Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin, speech to the Knesset, 1982. "We walked outside, Ben-Gurion accompanying us. Allon repeated his question, What is to be done with the Palestinian population?' Ben-Gurion waved his hand in a gesture which said 'Drive them out!"-- Yitzhak Rabin, leaked censored version of Rabin memoirs, published in the New York Times, 23 October 1979. "Let us not ignore the truth among ourselves ... politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves... The country is theirs, because they inhabit it, whereas we want to come here and settle down, and in their view we want to take away from them their country."-- David Ben Gurion, 1938 speech. "Israel should have exploited the repression of the demonstrations in China, when world attention focused on that country, to carry out mass expulsions among the Arabs of the territories."-- Benyamin Netanyahu, then Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister, 1989. "With compulsory transfer we [would] have a vast area [for settlement] .... I support compulsory transfer. I don't see anything immoral in it." -- Ben Gurion, 1937 Hell, you can go back to the late 1800's and pull quotes from Zangwill or this one from Syrkin, "Palestine thinly populated, in which the Jews constituted today 10 percent of the population, must be evacuated for the Jews." Syrkin, Expulsion Of The Palestinians You can pull all kinds of quotes and information out of context. You can even make 10 minute videos of it. It's all compelling and very interesting but it's most frequently done to support a point of view. |

![]() From a cultural standpoint I think the successes of the Jewish people are clear. Every time a Jewish population is pushed or leaves a country they are always able to assimilate because there is a basic understanding that knowlege, learning leads to success. THis cultural attitude allows for any population to be successful in democratically run systems. Throw in the hard work aspect, and the outcomes are very good on the whole. The JDL and some other extreme groups exist, but they are small in comparison.
Just dont hear much about roving gangs of Jewish youngsters. That says something about family. The aforementioned cultural attitude can pull any group out of poverty. It has certainly also worked for Asian populations, in the US especially. Guess I am biased... family, and the will to learn and better yourself to adapt to changes. Add a dash of hard work and determination and things just seem to work out, surprise, surprise. I have always also been impressed with the humanity of the Jewish friends I have. Its funny because they always argue about how the Palestinians are treated so poorly and what Israel should do to help the Palestinians out of poverty, while the Arab world seems to use the Palestinians to create problems. Most Arab countries don't want anything to do with Palestinians in their own country. There is also clearly a conflict between Israeli Jews and US Jews on many aspects of how Israel should conduct itself. There is an open dialogue (often very heated) and a real effort to try and solve problems. Gaza on the other hand now has Hamas to handle all their problems. Good luck with that. The Jewish friends I have feel really bad for the Palestinians in Gaza. Hamas continues to send rockets into small villages in Israel, instead of worrying that the world is cutting them off. And the economics of this tiny piece of land could really work with the access to the sea. This could be a thriving place of commerce with a good port system. But no way. Kill any Jew you can. |
