I'm 42 yrs old and have been putting my cash in the pools for the last 25 yrs, and I'm amazed that there has not been more of any uproar about these late odds changes. Probably a dozen times at Del Mar over the last 3 years I've seen 10-1 shots cross the wire at 6-1. You know what, maybe the Poly is good since a 3 length margin after a 1/4 doesn't translate to any insurmountable advantage. So far I have not seen any of the big late changes on winners at Del Mar.

Really I wish someone would address the technology issues. How come no advancements in odds transmitting in the last 15 years? We've gone from 2400 baud modems to 10Meg secure wireless transmissions and the tote info is still transmitted in the same manner.

There is no reason the odds can't be finalized and displayed 5 seconds out of the gate and flashed on the bottom of the screen and left there for 10 seconds at the start of a race. Better yet don't let the starter spring the latch until the odds are finalized and display them above the gate numbers.

If a whale in North Dakota betting out of some rebate shop can put in 100's of combinations in the last 30 seconds of betting, shouldn't we be able to get win odds finalized on 12 runners in a reasonable time.

Whoa whoa whoa there big guy! First we have to teach track management how to tie their own shoes.

The problem to this problem is so easy. Close the pools 2 minutes before post. If a wagering outlet does not transmit their data before the last horse is entered into the gate then their transmission is denied and all bets are off from that particular wagering outlet.

I loved the idea that tracks closed their pools a couple of minutes before post after the pick 6 scandal.

But like we talked before Sunday, I am sort of sick of the huge drop in odds on a horse. I wonder if the wagering outlet is waiting until all wagers are in before they send their transmission. So their transmission could be $1000's of dollars. I am not real sure how all of this works, but it is getting a little bit discouraging.

This was one at DMR at the end of the 05 meet when spd was holding on the turf, and the 3 got out to an uncontested lead on the front end and dropped from 15 to 10. This stuff goes on too much. I had to change the picture quality in order to attach so it isn't the clearest image capture.
