![]() What a great filly she was! so nice to see a great race named for her.
She was one of my all time favorites. I might be a bit prjudiced, as my 2yo filly, Shot o' Bourbon is the granddaughter of Go For Wand's sire. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_For_Wand Congrats to the connections of Ginger Punch. Dominant in this one despite the slow early going. Nice stretch run. Love it. |

It's in desperate need of a purse boost, there's been some short fields the last few years (but some great winners.)

![]() Frankel did not want to run Ginger Punch because of her bad post in a 6 horse field...
boy did that 5 hole compromise the race for her. jeez just think what she could have done breaking from the 3 hole. Good God I wonder how the man likes his eggs... |

![]() I thought it was hilarious how the commentators were talking about how, like with My Typhoon, you have the trainer saying 'lemme have her another year, she can win a G1' and in this case Frankel was totally blowing smoke up their arses as he basically admitted. He didn't know if she could or not, he just wanted her back and bs'd his way into getting her.
About Go For Wand, I was looking at a link that made me check out Bayakoa just to see how her few foals turned out. It looks like tomorrow her last foal Arlucea's 2005 filly named Izarra (by Distorted Humor out of Arlucea by Broad Brush) is making her debut in a a 6f maiden race on July 29th (Sunday) at Del Mar. Might get to see it on TVG right? I have no idea what they'll be showing but it's an interesting side note that Bayakoa's granddaughter's running. Last edited by Merlinsky : 07-29-2007 at 01:59 AM. |
