Overrated? Wow I guess you didn't see last years Travers. Off a 100+ day layoff going 10f and losing to a very good horse in Flower Alley. This horse has immense talent and its good to see him near his comeback I think at Calder soon.

I actually think this horse is truly the goods, but he will be viewed by the American public as overrated until he comes back and proves that he is a legit Gr. I performer....I guarantee you that the connections of Flower Alley and Invasor and other top handicap horses on the East coast DO NOT want to see him back at the races....

bellamy road turned in one bad performance, on derby day, and that makes him overrated? a lot of top horses have bad days, BR was just unlucky enough to do it in front of a nationwide audience....his average winning margin to that point was double digit lengths! and then as mentioned, his fantastic run in the travers. he's got a lot of talent, i'm happy to see him back working and am eager to see him return to the races. c'mon playa, he got a lot of hype....but it's not HIS fault! don't hold it against him...

The reason for that performance was an injury sustained during the race also. This horse will impress many if he stays sound.

yeah, he popped a splint....

can't wait to see him on the track again, this gets him that much closer. keep your fingers crossed that he continues to move forward.

another horse who's next race i'm eagerly looking forward to is pine island. heckuva run to finish just behind bushfire the other day.

Trying the Virginia Derby perhaps?...He doesn't have a grass pedigree but Kairan may think that the grass 3yos are softer than the dirt 3yos at this point (especially after he lost to Minister's Bid and Racketeer in an ALLOWANCE)....I'm not close to that camp so I don't know but someone in here should be....Byk would probably know....

Pine Island is exciting for as lightly raced as she is.....she moves like a turf horse with her style and leg action, but she clearly as good on either surface.....Plus, I own an Arch La-bred 2yo filly and would love to see her turn into a superstar to help my filly some...

good luck with that filly. i like arch myself, and think he could really have some success at stud. matter of fact, when we were up there last summer, the groom told us that seth han**** got an offer for arch, and was seriously considering selling him--til prince arch took off! no deal!!

although, I'm not sure what he's <BR> doing with Stein's stable manager
it sure doesn't give me confidence, really that he'll return at all
to me the Wood was a thing of rare beauty, and so was the gallant Traver's effort
some can appreciate such a thing, while others can't

Another VERY interesting tidbit about Bellamy Road is that both Nick Zito and Michael Dickinson - both of whom have won MANY big races and have put their hands on MANY top horses (and also happened to be the only two trainers that Bellamy Road has run for to this point) - have both been reported as stating that this horse is the most talented horse they've ever trained....

...I'd say that is pretty strong stuff....

LMFAO funny he is the goods huh, based on what? him beating a GRADE 3 field if it was even that as a whole in the wood and then in the summer staggering down the lane with the rest of them.......nobodies race in that 1 was good, it was actually a sad sight to watch! the only thing you can say in his defense there is that he was mismanaged and brought into that race the wrong way. ill say it again.........OVERRATED!

didn't BR beat scrappy t in the wood? the same scrappy who finished second to alex in the preakness?

overrated, like beauty, must be in the eye of the beholder. BR won all but two races he's run in--the derby where he suffered an injury, and the travers where he ran second to flower alley--off how long of a layoff?? how many works again? and that's the same flower alley who then beat older horses, and then finished second in the bcc.

He lost the 2yo race at Keeneland, he was hurt in that race as well and it was his last race for Dickinson.

I think people are hopeful that the horse returns to form. Bellamy Road has got a lot to prove. I dont trust Dickinson or anything he says. He may have run some very good horses, but he is not forthcoming or nuts or both.

You shouldn't have said anything bad about the "Mad Genius", now you will have people falling over themselves telling you how great he is...Really never understood the praise he receives, I agree with you, he may be nuts...
