Default Arlington's Saturday Card - DRF Contest

Holy christ that card is a good one. can't believe it.

We get a Nakatini appearance also, pretty stoked about that

If I had to guess, the 7,9,10 are mandatories and 2,4,5,11 have good shots at being a mandatory also. For sure the 1st race will not be a mandotory, they don't want that cluster**** at the windows that early.

How badly do you think Douglas will want to beat Anna Sat?

Touch My Soul will be ridden by four-time Arlington Park champion and current leading jockey Rene Douglas

My opinion on the race is that if she was lock city, there would be 7 entries. She will be the underlay of the race and will run 3rd. Don't have the winner yet

You know, I was just thinking the same thing. Imagine if Douglas was riding for Catalano/Calabrese how many wins he would have, and not this clown E.T.

Just proves that anyone can win aboard C/C's horses, except Ariel Smith.

i remember at the eclipse awards Cal was praising Douglas to no end, talking about how great he was and how the BCJ race was such a masterful ride.

i was thinking it might have had something to do with Douglas taking the Pletcher mounts this year.

Douglas picked running 1st call for Pletcher (against any C/C entry) and due to that, they dropped him from Lewis Michael and Dreaming of Anna and replaced with C/C's new 1st call rider.

Can somebody tell me if Eat Pie runs for Mark Wallace? and, if so, what is the race like (quality wise)?

Thanks in advance.

He is entered in the 10th, probably will be 5th favorite, field of 11

That trip across the Atlantic must do some strange things. she was a filly when she left anyway

Seriously, thanks for that.

She was only beaten about 3 lengths in the Cherry Hinton and at the time it looked like a strong renewal.

This is not just a good card, it is a GREAT CARD. And, my arch nemesis, SHANE LAVIOLETTE, is no where to be seen.

What do you guys think of the other "Dreaming of" horse, Dreaming of Liz, in the tenth? I can't make up my mind. Her last race was certainly impressive, she has been training like a monster, and her pedigree (particularly the dam-side) seems to indicate that stretching out a bit won't be a huge problem.
On the other hand, she is making a big jump in class while stretching out against stakes-tested fillies like Wonderful Luck. The fact that she is coming from way out there in post 11 seems problematic too.

Mandatories are 3,5,6,8,9,10. 3 turf and 3 all weather. Hope the rains don't ruin the turf races. I know they picked the 6th because it is one of the stakes but a six horse race with two odds-on favorites doesnt seem like the best choice especially when several other full field races were carded. The non mandatories start with race 3 at Belmont and Turfway and race 4 at calder along with the other 5 AP races of course.

I agree about the 6th, that is a garbage selection. Maybe they see it as contentious.

Mandatory races:
Arlington Park races 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10

Optional races:
Arlington Park races 1, 2, 4, 7, 11
Belmont Park races 3-10
Calder Race Course races 4-13
Turfway Park races 3-10

I would totally throw out the post issue -- on the long stretch in those one turn mile races at Arlington, being outside can be a huge advantage with over a half mile to get position. I'd rather have her out in the clear than boxed in down near the rail with her position chosen for her by the other riders instead of her own.

I think she's got a HUGE shot, her first race was pretty decent when you look at where the winner went next, and her pedigree sure makes it seem like this mile will be even better for her than her previous starts.

I'd also be surprised if she doesn't go favored.

No way she is favored in that race, not a chance. If she is, i might play the race for real and not just the contest

She's 4-1 on the morning line from the best connections on the ground. She's Marcus Hersh's Best Bet of the Day, there's an article about her in the DRF and her stablemate's going in the race prior.

I think she's going to be the favorite.

i'll be playing against DOL in the 10th. first of all she'll be an underlay given all the hype, second i don't like her late pace numbers for the stretchout to a mile. i don't think with her light foundation she'll be staying the full mile on the lead against horses with more racing in them.
