Default Movie- "First Saturday in May"

Just saw the reviews about this movie. From the article in the B.H site. http://news.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=40678, Looks like it got rave reviews and finished 2nd to 180 other movies voted at the Newark Film Festival in New York. Cant wait to see it!!

I saw the film at the Tribeca Film Festival and again in Saratoga. It's excellent and grew on me the 2nd time of viewing.

I wasn't surprised it did so well at the Tribeca festival but it must be pointed out that you could vote for best movie on only seeing 1 film in total. It was shown 4 times there and unlike most of the movies which drew a film buff type crowd that would go to multiple different films-virtually the entire audience at the showing I went to I recognised from the track etc and had no intention of going to any other movies and were only going to vote for 1 film for Best picture

Fingers crossed they find a distributor. I'm very eager to see it.

Lucky they included the eventual winner in their six horses, huh? Kind of like "Spellbound," another documentary I loved.

They had their bases covered a bit more than it appeared as they actually filmed 3 or 4 more trainers and then cut the movie down to the 6 they used.

Still, ten out of 20- still a pretty good chance not to get the winner. Especially if they picked some horses who didn't make it to the gate (do you know who the other 3 or 4 horses were?). Thanks for the extra info!

No I don't know which horses/trainers they also filmed. At both Q&A sessions when complimented on getting 5 of 6 to the Derby they revealed they followed 10 but didn't say who the others were.

Apparently.. talking to Romans next to Sharp Humor. (I don't think that will be instrumental in the Hennegans getting a distribution deal though.. )
