Default Just a note to those in marketing in the industry...

Get off the damned pageantry brigade!!!! If I have to watch one more Breeders Cup feature with the dramatic, teary eyed music, I'm going to throw a brick threw my television set.

Here's a clue: the game is about GAMBLING. It starts there and it ends there. Without betting handle, the owners would be running races in the yards of their estates. As for the horses themselves, they are powerful, no doubt. I guess I should say they WERE powerful; back before the introduction of the vile, synthetic surfaces poisoned the sport.

One more clue: quit using all those awful camera shots in big races. How can anyone follow their horse? Try to take trip notes on the Kentucky Derby and you will get nauseated. I STILL haven't seen Curlin's trip in the Derby thanks to the terrible camera work.

There, off the soap box. Maybe within 15 years, something will change in the coverage.

Hmmm.

I'm going to post my Christmas list on here. Really there is more of a chance Santa Claus is a member of this forum than someone from the ESPN and/or NBC marketing department.

I think racing should hire away marketers for Big Tobacco. Seeing as how you need to get people hooked on something when they're young, and technically, gambling is illegal if you're under 18... as is smoking. But Big Tobacco managers to market successfully to the under 18 crowd.

JJP, I think the teary-eyed music is trying to get the Double Xs to watch. Apparently we're suckers for the dramatic music and close ups of horse eyes.
