Two payouts for everything. EX will pay 3-5 and 5-3, TRI will pay 3-5-1 and 5-3-1, and so forth.

Default So Effectively Both Horses are First And Second

I could argue that my bet should win........ if both horses are first, then the 1 comes in second, and my 5-1 exact should pay, whether I had the 3 or not.

I just talked to a nice lady at Brisbet, and she could not comprehend my argument, but luckily it won't come up that often.

Yet one more way to get beat

How should your bet win? Why should the 3 not count? No offense, but that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.

The one came in third, not second.

Default Well, call it ridiculous wishful thinking........ but

as a practical matter, if two horses crossed the line at the same exact instant, both awarded 1st........ it is completely arbitrary to claim the 3rd horse is 3rd, not second. If it was in the tracks financial interest, they could pay bets not involving the two winners in a combined bet as separate wagers, and move other horses up one place.

Let's say two teams in an MLB division tie for first. Is the next team after them the second-place finisher? No, they're awarded third place. You can't be in second if there are two horses in front of you.

The two horses that deadheated for win share first and second. That's why the exactas pay both ways and why they both pay to win and place. the dead heat for win has no bearing on the horse that that finishes third. If two horses finish in front of him he's third. end of story. doesn't matter if they dead heat for win.

Chris, call the nice lady back at Brisbet and, with hat in hand, apologize. There was no argument to comprehend there.

If an Entry runs 1-2..then they would include the third place horse, but a dead heat does not affect the 3rd place horse.

Default Everyone Take a Breath......

I did not give anyone a hard time at Bris, I just wanted to understand how they handled it. If two MLB teams tie for the championship..... which one is second? You explained how tracks handle a dead heat, both horses are treated as first and second simultaneously..... my point was that there is no law of physics that says that they would have to resolve bets the way they do.

Hey Chris, how do the law of physics handle a DQ? I think the same way as they do a DH. The rule book trumps any law of physics application.

Sunday morning, applying law of physics to a dead heat.. I think I will go back to bed!

Good luck with your future ex boxes.
