![]() Why is this such an insane thing to do? I actually had done it for a long time (on my NYCOTB account until NYRA started their rewards program), and will now do it again after what I experienced at Belmont on Sunday (though it won't cost NYRA anything since it will be the NYRA account I will be betting on). First issue, the idiots that handicap the race at the betting machine. Are you kidding? Second issue, the people that look at the screen like it will choose the horses for you. Then, select a few horses, s l o w l y, only to clear the bet and start over. If you were lucky enough to reach the betting machine before post time, odds were the reader for your account card wasn't operating correctly and you had to go and find another machine.
So yes, you will see me betting on my phone account at the track, and it won't be because I don't have any more cash, as the caller suggested would be the only reason why someone would do this. While I'm bitching about the so called operation over there at Belmont, who made the decision to turn the grill in the backyard of the grandstand into a hotdog stand? They used to sell burgers, sausage and peppers, chicken and fries, which could all be enjoyed in their "picnic area" and now all you can get is a greasy hot dog. What is wrong with these people? |

![]() I have used my ADW account when the track I was at didn't offer the bet I wanted to place. I tried to bet a $0.50 pick 4 at Keeneland while I was at Tampa Bay Downs and Tampa did not offer it. I immediately went to the phone to put the wagers in and used that method the rest of the meet.
I will also be prepared to use it again if Monmouth doesn't have enough tellers/machines to handle the BC crowd in a couple weeks. |

![]() The one time I did this was at a contest at the Trackside Arlington facility. They charge a fee on all winning bets for the priviledge of betting at the facility. Of course, by calling BrisBet, there was no surcharge.

![]() i just read about a guy who asked about wi-fi access at an otb, as he had downloaded the pps to his laptop...he was told no computers allowed. but he pointed out to them that blackberries, cellphones, etc would allow the same situations they were trying to avoid with the no computers ban. of course that got him nowhere.
as for his pp dilemma, he was told to buy the form.

![]() I found the same thing Sunday...and Cannon, there were 19,000 there because of folding chair giveaway day...so it was amateur hour again.
I had to stand behind the yahoos who did the same, slooooooowly look at the machine, slooooooooooooooooooooowly punch the buttons, slooooooooooooooooly look over the selections before they punch accept. On big days Belmont still has problems with the limited amount of NYRA card & voucher machines, but hell, I wouldn't invest in placing any more since the big crowds only show up 3-4 times a year at best. ![]()
