![]() It was nice to note my Bay Area OTB was nicely filled with fans today. Not an open seat in the house, and lots of folks standing.
It felt reassuring to see racing fans in attendance, whether actually at a track or not. The breakout was probably about 90% male, with ages ranging from mid-20's and way up. Median age today probably around 45 to 50, if I had to venture a guess. Just from my walking around and listening, it seemed like most in attendance appreciated horse racing and weren't just there for the raw gambling action. I heard two different discussions about "the European horses." One discussion from a group of Hispanic guys, and one from a group of Asian guys. It was pretty cool. At least to me. I suspected it might be a big weekend when I stopped by yesterday at 10AM to get a bet down on the F&M Sprint, and they already were scrambling to open more betting windows. |

Or live a pretty closeted life. All the conversation I heard was in English. Albeit with accents. |

![]() Don't talk to me about the...(G)...(B)ay Area and closets...I know what goes on out there.
j/k...i'm glad people actually took a visible interest in the sport. |

![]() The OTB that I was at this morning was busy, too. Here in Arizona, the OTB's are at selected bars around the state, and I don't think the owners of the one I was at had any idea it would be that busy this morning. I was surprised to see people waiting outside when I arrived at 8:45.
I haven't heard the official handle, but I hope it was good considering the crappy track conditions... |

![]() Nevermind, accoring to the DRF the total handle was just under $100 million. Pretty good day...
