![]() What a bullsh*t idea. The NFL gripes because players can't stay out of jail, and here's a guy that is a family guy that gets docked for going to the funeral of the person that raised him. Hell, next time just snort 2 grams of coke and get back on the field. Sh*t like this pisses me the F*ck off.

![]() I hope nobody in the Vikes organization is surprised the next time he gets a case of the "gator arms" when he goes across the middle, or maybe runs out of bounds instead of going for that first down...you reap what you sow. F the Vikings.

![]() What you're really saying is that fans should have to pay a guy even though he wasn't able to make himself available to play. If a golfer couldn't play in a tournament (for this same reason,) then he wouldn't get paid.He wouldn't consider it punishment. This guy wasn't able to play.It was a personal matter that was involved. He wasn't hurt(which is how most athletes get paid while not producing a product called entertainment.)I think golf got it right(pay athletes based on performance.)Jason Schmidt got paid $15,703,946 for doing nothing this year.He didn't produce a product called entertainment.Does anybody take responsibility for the fans having to pay this guy? No,the G.M. is not punished...Only the fans get punished. So,no,I am not for paying athletes that don't play games. This bullshit is the reason the cost to go to games is out of hand.If they get injured, and it's of course nobody's fault, then why doesn't the athlete have to give up half his money, and the fans pay him half money(for doing nothing.)The Viking player should be allowed to take off whatever time he needs to take off,but don't expect to get paid when ya don't show up.This is a 100% performance based business.Time to start running it that way. This is not a fireman's job.Somebody just as good is not gunna always be around to do the job.We didn't quite have another Jason to pitch.

![]() The Vikings did something much worse - they traded Moss to Norv Turner and the insane Art Shell.
I guess it was the only thing worse than playing in Minn. with a historically bad defense every year - a crappy running game once Robert Smith retired - and having the misfortune of having the most overrated football player in sports history (Duante Culpepper) as their QB. Did anyone who watched the Vikings in the late 90's and earlier this decade not think that Jeff George and Gus Ferrotte were both MUCH better QBs than Duante ever was? The decrepit Randall Cunningham was like Dan Marino in his prime compared to Duante. |

No. Jeff George was not better than Culpepper. George had a few good years but if you lined up his best 5 years vs Culpeppers, it's not even close, even leaving out the 2,000+ yards rushing to George's near none. ButI always liked watching Jeff George play. |

Another guy who played great for the Vikes and didn't get a chance was Tood Bouman. He came in against the Steelers defense and went 11-for-15 had exactly 200 passing yards and 2 TD's vs 1 INT. The next week, he went 21-for-31 for 348 yards and 4 TD's and was named the NFL offensive player of the week. And back to the bench he went. Randall Cunningham in '98 was the NFL MVP and threw more TD passes that season than he did in his previous five years in the league combined. Not saying the Culpepper's numbers in Minny are less than Frerottes, Georges, Boumans, or Cunningham's .... but none of those guys got hyped to the moon. And unlike those guys, DC had an annoying knack of making big mistakes at key points in games. Moss moved all of those guys up. Brady's numbers have obviously hiked this year - through nine games his completion percentage is 73.2% (9.5% higher than his previous best) his 33 TD passes through just nine games are 5 TD's higher than his previous career top of 28 in a 16 week season. Stallworth has never had a 1K yard season in six years in the leauge and Welker had only 1 career TD catch coming into this year. But both are young guys - and are probably more talented than any recievers Brady has had except for Deion Branch and Troy Brown. But still, Brady is looking like another Moss moveup. |

Everyone is saying he is benefitting from Moss but he is a return man also. He has extraordinarily quick feet. He is not the type of guy that is a track star, he can just get himself in the open in a millisecond. I give credit to Bcheck for using him properly. |
