beer (or soda) will freeze in a standard freezer.

if he is using a device that is lowering the temperature to the same as dry ice, how did he engineer around that problem?

beersicles?

Yeah growing up I came to do known as The Fireman. C02 fire extinisher and a 5 gallon bucket. Put your beer in the bucket and fire away inside of it. Cold beer in seconds.

minutely less warm beer in seconds.

a co2 extinguisher isn't going to do much more than put frost that quickly evaporates on the outside of the glass bottle or can. the idea this significantly cools down 12 oz of liquid (much less a 5 gallon bucket) is drunk thinking.

you'd be better off holding it in front of an air conditioning vent for 5 minutes.

i'm still trying to figure out how plunging an object that is as cold as dry ice into a liquid doesn't freeze it.

Have you tried this before? Or just saying it won't work? I've done it maybe I'm doing something different than you? Agri teacher showed us in school then at Refridegeration school instructor preformed it.

There was an episode of Mythbusters where they looked at the fastest way to cool down beer. The fastest was to use a CO2 fire extinguisher. The second fastest was to put the beer in a salt and ice bath(like used in making homemade ice cream). This was almost as fast as the fire extinguisher and faster then straight ice or the fridge.

could you post a link?

i went to the mythbusters website and couldn't find anything. i tried searches with "beer", "cooling", and "co2".

pb: i haven't tried this.

this post and your's makes me feel a little wobbly.

how many beers and how much co2? it's hard to imagine 30 seconds of expanisve cooling would significantly reduce the temperature of even 12 oz of liquid.

I will have to search the website. But Mythbusters is replaying that episode on Nov 21 at 11 AM (I guess eastern time) on the Discovery channel.

Check the discovery channel website for further details.

CO2 took 3 minutes and iced salt water took 5 minutes.
