Default X-Box 360 vs Playstation 2/3 ?

Also....how long until PS2 is phased out? Would getting someone a PS 2 game console be worth it?

I'm not a gamer so I just don't know.

To me its all personal preference. Like ford/chevy... Both consoles have their strengths and weaknesses. PS2 is on its way out, however they are still making games for it. As they ramp up with more games for the PS3 the level of PS2 games will slowly subside, but no its not a bad present for anyone as long as they don't want the latest games. Personally, if your buying it for someone who really enjoys video games, I'd buy a new console.

Kinda depends on the financial situation of the person you are getting it for. If they have the means to get a 360 or PS3 whether it be through their parents or on their own then a PS2 is pretty much worthless. If they are in a situation where they don't have a gaming console and probably won't be able to get one anytime soon then it could definitely be a good gift.

I agree totally.

That said, I love my PS2 and have ZERO desire to upgrade it at the moment.

Unless they get a decent Gallop Racer on one of them, then maybe I'd think about it.

I have the PS2 and plan to play it until they stop making games for it, forcing me to upgrade. I did just get my hands on a Nintendo Wii, but I immediately sold it for $500 on ebay. I paid $250 on it, I had to take advantage of the Holiday Season and the hype that people have to get one. I've seen them go for even more, but with the $250 I made on it I think I will just buy another after the holidays.

Or just go to the track with it!

Though in retrospect, I am not, nor have I ever been a professional gamer, so my opinion is useless and baseless in this conversation so please disregard me.

If you bought it with the extra remotes, controllers, and the wii play package which costs about an extra $100 you could get $500 for it. People are pretty stupid, the console has been out for a year and could have easily been purchased months ago. This was just in stock yesterday which including 7 real games (not counting Wii Play and Wii Sports which ebay people are advertising as 14 games) is a far better deal than what you get on ebay:

I sold the basic Wii with the on controller, nunchuk, and the Wii Sports for $500. People on ebay are stupid, not only for paying this much for a Wii but for the way they bid on them. I watched one of the same ones I sold go for $600 right after I sold mine, then one goes for $380 after that. I guess you just have to be lucky and have the right stupid people looking at your auction at the right time.

Just gave X-box to our kids for Christmas. It's pretty cool. We got the Rock Band set. We've been having a blast with that. We also got Madden for the X-Box. That's tough to get used too. Yes, I realize I'm 38.
