![]() Just hoping someone here can give me a little insight on a horse from SAf running at Gulfstream on Friday.
1. How do G1s in South Africa stack up to races in the U.S. or in Europe? I know in South America that a G1 there is like an allowance here- is it the same in South Africa or is the class level better? 2. How is GV Woodruff as a trainer? Thanks |

![]() I can't answer either one... the little (very little) I know about SA is from checking out this site once a week or so..... I only have limited knowledge of a few of the bigger names over there (ie, War Artist for example).
Just incase you're interested..... http://www.sahorseracing.com/ Hopefully someone can answer. ![]() |

![]() South African Gr1 races can vary quite a lot, I think. You get some South African Gr1 horses who can mix it with good horses around the world, but then there are some that actually prove to be pretty moderate. Although my knowledge of racing out there is only small, I'd probably say that the Gr1 races are of a lower standard than the same grade of race in Britain, Ireland and America.
The very fact that I have heard of this trainer, usually means they are pretty good.
