Inglis Drever
This fella deserves his own thread. He might not be flashy, he might not ever win on the bridle but he is surely one of the most game horses we have seen over the last few years.
He isn't the biggest, but he will fight with anything and nine times out of ten he will come out on top. He gives people a few worrying moments in every race, but it's like he does that to give himself a bit more of a challenge. One minute he will be out the back seemingly going backwards, and then the next he will be upsides the leader then saying catch me if you can. He is some horse.

You're right there is something inherently likeable about horses that tend to race a bit lazily but who are thoroughly genuine and reliable and respond willingly. It was the same with Persian Punch. And you certainly can't argue with Inglis Drever's record: a top-class hurdler who has won 12 of his 19 completed starts, including two World Hurdles, and more than likely a third this year.

yeah i really really do like Inglis Drever.. he turns up to every dance and is so so consistent. It's easy to forget as well that he has quite a serious injury and came back arguably better...
one point of interest that I might bring up here. I always hear Noel Meade question why so many people slag off Harchibald when (in his opinion!) he gives everything he has without having to be asked by the jockey. That's in contrast to Brave Inca, Hardy etc who need such strong urging to keep up to their work and they are loved.

The jury is out over Harchibald. He's a bridle horse, which means he lacks that one extra gear that most other horses find when they get pushed along. He has such a high cruising speed that it almost makes up for it, but it doesn't work everytime. I do think he can get 'worried' out of it at times.
You know with Inglis Drever, Hardy Eustace and Brave Inca that you are going to get 110% from them even though Inglis Drever and Brave Inca can also be classed as lazy. One reason I love Inglis Drever is because he's a lot like me. Quite lazy, but if pushed hard enough will always do the work
