Default Isn't this a great idea, and.....

..... shouldn't we do it here following some of our G1's?

It would make a great way to raise money for different racing-related charities.

I almost bought Hal's Hope's Florida Derby saddle cloth off of E-bay for $285.

It wasn't until I was just about to place the winning bid with a few seconds to go when it hit me - what the hell am I going to do with a saddle cloth?

Anyway, that's how gutsy I thought Hal's Hope was in the FLA Derby ... I normally mock the people who would buy such things.

The best part about the HH saddle cloth was that Roger Velez hadn't signed it - that alone would have decreased it's value by about 900%

I once saw one that belonged to Hendrix, while he was still alive.

I don't go looking for these things but someone let me know it was on eBay.

Same as you... I was about to bid (it was surprisingly a pretty high amount) and i thought the same... what will i do with it?

Wish I had it now.....

Instead of these things ending up on eBay though, I just thought it would be easy enough to have certain G1's around the country and certain charities work together to do something like this.

Sometimes they end up going for charity, but in the US some owners keep them, others don't care. I have no signed cloths in my collection, and have refrained from bidding on some because of the signiature.

Is this the one you saw on eBay?

2006 G2 American Handicap Hollywood Park

I have some nice displays for my cloths, Oak enclosures with a hanging bar and an acrylic front. I have a tall one for my 7 BC ex cloths, they hang over each other with only the names showing (except the top cloth). They take up a lot of wall space, though.

I keep a corner of my mom's basement dedicated to my horsey stuff.

All kidding aside, I agree.

I actually do keep a corner of my mom's basement - pretty much loaded to the gills with every copy of simulcast weekly until about late '05, many copies of the old charts weekly, tons of old VCR tapes and racing forms, plus random books and boxes of baseball and football cards, old video games and video game systems etc.

More than once, she's actually resorted to the tactic of threatening to throw them all away "just because" - as a means of getting me to show up at her house ... to answer hundreds of her questions about my life in rapid fire style.

It's much like a press confrence, but with just one nosey reporter asking non-stop spur of the moment questions.

Which reminds me that someone has yet to deliver on a promise...

And what would that be?

If it's about the photo of my pud you wanted...I'll still need more time to think it over.
