![]() Enjoyed a great afternoon/evening of racing with the Risen Star card at Fair Grounds, Magna 5, and return of Santa Anita making it a premium day. Had success throughout the afternoon mutuelly despite a poor Magna 5 ticket, as the late P4 at New Orleans righted many wrongs with a $721.00 return.
The Gulfstream nightcap was a hair-puller for me though as Hap E to Run ($38.80), who I lauded as a live play on 'ATR' and in print, won without my investment when the event came off the turf. And with post scratch 2nd choice Nalanda being photoed, missing out on the $457.00 exacta only made the situation more maddening. The NoLa card had been chalky up to the late pair, with the lone surprise to me being the ease with which Mike Smith won the FG Handicap with Daytona. It is always shocking to me when riders allow a quality horse to lope along on the front end of turf routes, only to act shocked when they can't reel them in down the stretch. Indian Blessing and Pyro continued to demonstrate their respective division leadership qualities, winning exactly the way you would expect them to... Overall, a fine day that stood as an appropriate harbinger of the season ahead.. Hope you did well. Aqueduct carryover of $50k+ on humdrum state-bred card, San Vincente (SA 8) with Into Mischief, and important ALW (GP 9) featuring Jockey Ridge and Bordeaux Bandit draw Sunday's interest. AQUEDUCT Inner track continues to play ridiculously fast, and until oafish super Passero grooms it for appropriate fairness, extra consideration has to go to erstwhile quitters that get conveyor assist from current scenario.. NOTE: PRE-SCRATCHES AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ADJUST TODAY... 4th: NYB-MDN CLM, 3yo, 6f (P6, P3) #1e Contessa entry (4-1) features Solid Account (WON), back and dropping on 4 days rest, and 2 start-40L beaten Royal Rizzi (SCR) ..
