I passed on the Derby because of my horrible track record, lifetime ofer. But i did throw a 50 on eight Belles for the heck of it. At least if she makes it she wont be running in a 20 horse field....

$100 Smooth Air (187-1 with under 5 minutes left and is 75-1 in Vegas at the moment)

$50 Into Mischief (29-1, while 30-1 in Vegas. And he races about an hour AFTER the pool closes)

187-1 on Smooth Air is way too high. . . His beyers are higher than a bunch of these horses and his tomlinson rating for 10F is actually pretty decent. . . I was thinking he was a sprinter type but now i'm not so sure. . . wish I had looked before the pools closed. . .

These are incorrect, Bloodhorse has the odds but they are NOT EXACT, which I am guessing Dunbar is looking for, meaning like 33.20-1 type stuff

Went against my brain and went with my heart

$15 Colonel John
$10Dennis of cork
$20 Monba
$20 Zhumor

I know, i know i took way too low 19-1 on colonel john esp after mishief got beat but for some odd reason i just liek the way he runs. I wish there was a way for him to run east b4 the bid dance

Dennis of Cork at 46-1 i figured what the heck maybe he will bloom into one to watch and at 45-1 i'll take a shot what the heck it was $10

Monba- I really like this horse a lot other then being a grey his pedigree, trainer TP has gotta get one one of these days right??? I just think the horse can run the distance.16-1 was a little lower then i wanted but dammit i wanted to put something on him

zhumor- at 45-1 on a horse that hasant run that bad on dry surface routing i cfouldn't pass up and he is bred pretty well with Dist humor on top and an AP mare on the bottom. His tomlinson for what it is worth is pretty big.

oh well, maybe i'll have some fun with it for a little while anyway

Right. I want to know the "will pays" or the fractional odds. The "All others" could be anything from 3-1 up to 3.4-1.

Some years they've shown the amounts bet on each entry. They did a lousy job with the "live" odds this year.

This is the only parimutual win bet in racing where you don't get to see how much was bet on each entry. (In most if not all previous years of the Future Wager, you DID get to see the individual amounts.) There's a big difference between 3.00-1 and 3.40-1. Do we really have to wait 3 months to possibly find out what odds we have?

What odds do you get? What they are when you make the wager or what the odds are when the pool closes?

The exact odds are up on the Derby site now. You just have to poke around.

It appears Smooth Air was 159-1, not 187-1. The pool totals given by TwinSpires.com must have been inaccurate when I made my originial calculations. That, or more money came in after 6pm. I thought I had accounted for the takeout, because the pool total on KentuckyDerby.com was well over $400k, and the pool total shown on TwinSpires.com was $390k. So I thought it was safe to assume the $390k was after the takeout. But perhaps it wasn't.

Interesting...$439,379 is the lowest amount wagered since the inception of the Future Wager in 1999....the bet seems to have lost some of it's appeal. Maybe now they will rethink their stance and possibly add the entire field of nominations into the pool next year instead of the paltry 24 entries.
