Question Recommendations???

Heading to Vegas for the first time in about 7 years. Any advice on where to go for the most enjoyable horse race sports book. Last time there spent time in both the Imperial Palace(not impressed) and The Mirage(pretty good). Interested in comfort, visuals and perks.

Would appreciate any and all suggestions

Depends on the day... Caesars Palace on a weekday, Bellagio if you can get a VIP seat on a weekend. If not, go somewhere smaller/quieter. With college basketball in session it can get packed in the big books and frustratingly long lines.

Yes on Caesars..If you are near it, Hilton has a great book. Also Mirage is still very good

Mandalay Bay is an excellent book. If you're looking for a good comp program and priority for horseplayers try the Orleans.

The Hilton Superbook is still one of the best and for pure luxury you can't beat Bellagio or Wynn.

There are reviews of all books here: http://www.vegas.com/gaming/sportsbooks/

Good luck!

I love Mandalay as well for sports (almost always stay there) but left it off for racing because I find the tellers incompetent and the crowds too large. For sports big-game atmosphere... nowhere better.

If you're looking for something a little less overdone and maybe cozy, I would recommend what use to be the Barbary Coast at the intersection of of Las Vegas Blvd. and Flamingo Rd., canti corner from Ceasars. The small hotel and casino on the Northeast Corner has a great little race book with 25cent draws and nickel hotdogs. It's called Wild Bills or something now. Owned by Harrah's. Fun and non-intinidating.

I can agree with that. The big screen at Mandalay seems like it's one city block long. There were a few tellers who were OK, but they all seem rude to me. Maybe I just naturally hate tellers.

I haven't been to Las Vegas since I was 14. Do they still have the horsey game at Circus Circus where you roll the ball up and depending on which color hole it goes into, your horse moves up a notch?

Caesar's is the best on the strip imo. Mandalay is plagued by the jabroni infestation that sits up in the front right and screams at whatever college game is being played.

The Wynn was nice, except the fact that there were a lot of idiots in there at the time watching the Golden State Dallas Mavericks playoff game and trying to get one of my free drink tickets.
