how does a horse "break down" --which I assume the chart caller got wrong, but still obviously something happened to him-- and is then allowed to enter (for 3x the claim price no less)? Shouldn't someone (I realize there is no time, money, staff, etc) certify this horse's fitness/soundness before he is even entered, let alone run....

He has two workouts in the interim. Not sure the rules in NY, but I assume he was on the vet's list and one of those workouts was witnessed by the state vet.

Maybe its some sort of scam involving the chartcaller.

Enough for me. At 30-1, I'm loading up.

maybe an overzealous chart writer? maybe he was vanned off, or had some other difficulty.
i remember laffits last ride, when that horse did a flip--he got up, shook like a wet dog, and walked off the track.

2 Aluminum Pads ON...

How scary is this horse?

12/27 eased after being only 30 lengths off of a 23 and 4 quarter mile in the mud. So he sauntered through his opening quarter in just under 30 seconds.
1/19 "broke down" after he flew through an opening quarter of 26 and 3, which obviously was too much for this 9YO to endure.
Now after a 47 and 4 half mile drill and a BULLET (fastest of 32) 3f blow out in 36 flat he comes back for the trainer who sent him out to a very narrow loss to Lethimthinkhesboss, one of the top choices in today's race.

This in no way is an endorsement for him as a win candidate, but stranger things have happened.

He's entered right back for Sunday at the Big A. What a recovery.
