Default Oh am I starting some **** at School - Cost Acct Class

So right now I have a cost accounting class. I like the concept of cost accounting very much as it is very number intensive. But the teacher is absolutely putrid. He assigns us 'conceptual' questions along with many numerical problems. He also has us read the book. Now I never read the books, I just don't learn that way, I learn by doing, and in cost accounting, the problems are the most important thing. After we hand in homework, the teacher proceeds to READ THE FRIGGIN BOOK to us for the first hour of class, then he goes over the problems. The whole class just zones out until he actually goes over it, he left the class the other day, and it was the most hilarious collective sigh of all time. So I had a test on Wednesday night and this guy ASSIGNS us our seats. So I get done taking the test and I know I did real well on it, anything less then a 93 or 94% would be a failure to me on this test. I am handing it to him and he asks me a question about one of the questions, I tell him

Scav: "I have to go, you already waste enough of my time every Wednesday night with pointless reading and homework problems"

Teacher: "What do you mean, I go over the problems"

Scav: "You put the whole class to sleep in the first hour and THEN you go over the problems"

Teacher: "I disagree"

Scav: "That is fine, but I plan on complaining to every possible dean and anyone that will listen to get this changed, I am not paying 2k for this class to have you read to me, teach me something"

Teacher: (all flustered) "Have a good break"

So the whole class heard it any many other students have class with me on Thursday, last night and everyone was asking what was going on. I tell them and now they are all interested as many feel the same way. It is PETITION time boys and girls. Now while I will see the point of when someone says I should have not did this after I handed in a test mid semester but I just don't think it is fair to the students and or OTHER GOOD TEACHERS that this guy is teaching. I also am very confident in my abilities when it comes to this type of work so I am going to get an A so he can't pull the "He wants a better grade card"

IN regards to the homework, we have to hand it in (not common at this school, but I am ok with it) but he assigns about 30 problems, 15 of them are almost defintional and take about 90 minutes to do, and the other 15 problems are accounting problems. I have absolutely no argument about doing accounting problems, hell I even like them, but the 90 minutes I am wasting doing f'n definitions is ridiculous. I learned how to read in like 1st grade, don't need to be read something. The other thing, which I don't mind but is ammunition for me is that he is only through 5 chapters and it is already midway through the class, and there is 18 chapters, so most likely we are going to be losing out on 5-6 chapters of stuff that future employers will want us to know.

Just a vent, and if anyone else has/had this issue, wondering how you guys solved it....

The only problem with what you did is your name will be circulated around the department and probably not in a favorable fashion. Professors are your best allies. They write letters of reccommendations and have exposure to the companies who hire accountants. It isn't smart to make a professor look dumb or to show him/her up. It if is easy then just sit there like an adult and get your A and move on.

I am cool with EVERY one of my other teachers and I have a 3.6 GPA in my accounting classes. I have every right to complain about not learning enough or getting my time wasted.

I just got a call from the associate dean, who was responding to my email that we in regards to graduation, and this.

From this, I found out the guy is tenure, thus almost impossible to get fired, but I can still cause some hell. I know the proper recourse now and have all spring break to get my letter typed.....
