LOL. What a terrible hire.

Dwayne Wade made this guy.

Completely disagree, this is exactly what indiana needed. A solid character guy who is a rock solid recruiter. Wade was a once in a lifetime player for him but he has already show he can recruit in indiana(dominic james) and he was an assistant in the big ten. The hoosiers are going to suck for 2 or 3 years because of sanctions and the fallout from those. This is exactly the type of person the school needed to hire.

Why do you say he is a clown? He is 190-96 at Marquette, 5 NCAA appearances, and 1 final four. Marquette isnt like the best place to play and he is competitive in the Big East. His record is clean and he can recruit pretty well.

IU will lose all 5 starters and prob their 2 recruits. Going to be slim on wins for IU the next three years. Years 4 and 5 will tell how good of a coach he is.

The only problem is, IU has a delusional fan base. They don't wanna hear about sanctions and fallout of recruits and players. They just want wins, and if it take until year 4 to get good again, Creen won't be there to see the fruits of his labor.

Rumor has it in Milwaukee that Crean was forced out of Marquette. Why would he leave Marquette with a bunch of seniors returning and take less $ at IU? He also is going to a program that is a complete mess right now and expects to at least win the big ten and be very competitive in NCAA tournament every year. Crean has also been very vocal that he doesn't like to coach against Izzo and Bo Ryan. I also agree with Coach Pants that Dwayne Wade made him. He has won a total of 1 NCAA games since Wade left. He is not a very good coach and actually has had a lot of talent at Marquette and done nothing with it. Good luck Indiana. Being a WI badger fan I am happy to see Indiana hire an overated coach.

Exactly.

And he also is going to be under intense pressure to beat Kentucky. And with the recruiting class they have coming in, and Gillispie's ability to turn a program around quickly, the chance of that happening in the next 4 years is highly unlikely.

Is that sarcasm?

They got a commitment from DeAndre Liggins. Chicago kid.

Also got Darius Miller from Mason County. That's where Chris Lofton played ball and won a state championship. Miller cut down the nets this year.

Not at all Coach, that is real good knowledge to know he has a bunch of good recruits coming in, especially for early in the year when everyone is figuring themselves out. I don't really follow on that level except for SIU.

SIU also has three real good recruits, one of them was a top 15 in the nation I think, from STL.

I have no opinion on Crean but in the current set up in college basketball no one needs a 3 or 4 year program to contend. Just hitch your star to a one (soon to be 2???) year player like Beasley and you are instant contenders. Not that there are tons of them out there but a good recruiting class can get you to the sweet 16 and further really quick. When you are matched up against seniors it is usually to the advantage of the young guys because seniors usually arent very good.

I happen to like Crean, not sure why everybody's so down on him. If anything I was surprised he took the Indiana job, with the sanctions and their delusional fanbase, and even more surprised to hear he was pushed out of Milwaukee... what exactly has he done wrong?

It isn't what he has done wrong, it is what has he done right? 1 win in the NCAA tourny since the departure of D-wade. What makes him a good coach? He has recruited well and done absolutely nothing with it. Why would he take the IU job for less $ than he was making at Marquette? No real statement from Marquette about this. IU is in disarray. It all adds up to someone at Marquette telling him to take the job.
