Default Just when you thought racing couldn't get any dumber...

From Bris:

Wet weather can wreak havoc with turf racing at Fair Grounds, forcing the transfer of many scheduled races to the main track, and officials are reportedly set to explore installing a synthetic turf surface at the historic New Orleans track. They'll hear the presentation of Matty Nicholas, developer of the Saf-T-Turf course in New Zealand.

Drainage is one of the major benefits of Saf-T-Turf. Engineered to provide the same feel and give as natural grass, the synthetic turf is installed over a cushioned base that has built-in drainage channels. Embedded in rubber, the artificial fibers are springy and designed to resist slickness from moisture.

It goes on saying more about how great it is...

I would guess it's similar to the Field Turf being used in many NFL stadiums... Synthetic grass makes as much if not more sense than synthetic dirt, I mean poly-track.

I don't think this was one of BRIS' better April Fool's jokes, but it seems to have made fools of some.

Wow, that one got me.

When reading it it did seem possible it was a 4/1 joke, but I never knew Bris to be the type of site that would pull a prank.

Well, that and how ridiculous things are these days, it seemed entirely plausible, sadly.

BRIS does this every April 1st. Personally, I think it's pretty silly. I guess someone there is a repressed comedian.
