Default US Ranger

back today,.7f, heavy ground, just what he likes..

also at Longchamp, Zarkava (my star of 2008!) back for her seasonal reappearance against Conference Call who she beat in the Marcel Boussac back on Arc day. Zarkava could be the new Darjina, Six Perfections, Divine Proportions etc, while Ill go out on a limb and call Conference Call the Matriarch Stakes winner 2008!!

It's been said that Zarkava may not run today.....

From Racing Post......

by Racing Post staff

ZARKAVA may not run inSunday's Group 3 Prix de La Grotte at Longchamp.

Trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre stated on RacingUK that ground conditions were against the champion juvenile filly.

De Royer-Dupre intends to wait and see how the course rides before making a decisionon his champion filly's participation.

The first race at Longchamp on Sunday is at 1.10, with the televised Prix de La Grotte off at 2.45.

Regarding US Ranger, he is far too short for me to backing today. I quite fancy Major Cadeaux, who finished in front on US Ranger in the guineas last year, handles soft ground and goes very well when fresh. He does have to give 3lbs to US ranger, but he is definitley the value here.

I thought US Ranger would be 1-2 in this race, so I guess Evens is a great price.... looks like Zarkava will run after all..

Done a fair amount on Major Cadeaux The more I looked at the race, the more I fancied him.

Apparently US Ranger was carrying plenty of condition, so it seems highly likely that he'll build on what was a rather laboured reappearance. The winner got an uncontested lead, whilst Major Cadeaux performed creditably on balance.

Zarkava was impressive, though the form is held down by the bunched finish behind the runner-up. Even so she's going to take a lot of beating in the French 1,000 Guineas.
