Talking Jon White

Yeah, I know Jon means well, but he and Bob Fox could cure the worst insomniacs. Wow, what a monotone! And if I have to hear about his point system for the derby once more, I might actually book his derby bets!

Is it any wonder the guy talks about his mother who picks Derby Winner's while Brad Free got 3 minutes to do 6 races.

Are you sure Steve doesn't pay White by the word. If that segment had gone another 5 minutes we would have heard White talking about his viewing of the chariot races of the middle ages.

I find White hysterical. There is almost nothing in the game he hasn't done (steward, clocker, chart caller, etc.) and you won't find someone who loves the sport more. He's been a very popular addition to the lineup from the mail we get.

Fox' segment is really well liked too based on the feedback. (And honestly, it gives me a breather.)

Brad Free was on deadline for a DRF in-print piece yesterday and couldn't give me more than the 8-10 min. he did.. I twisted his arm for what we got as it was. He's invaluable and almost never turns me down.

Thought yesterday was a fun 3 hours. Post draw tonight and another guest-fest...

Maybe get Seth back to get his view of the Oaks/Derby? as he got cutoff at the end.

Great Show!

Thebby is correct.

I like the show, but those two guys make me want to change the channel and/or shoot the radio.

I think White is fantastic - the hour telecasts he did with Kurt Hoover on Fox Sports West way back in the day were nothing short of outstanding.

I think he does a tremendous job on HRTV as well.

His handicapping isn't tremendously impressive - but he never comes off like his opinion is better than anyone elses - which can't be said for many of the clowns on TVG and a few on HRTV. Further, he always makes an effort to back up his opinions with reasoning.. and you know the guy atleast bets.

His memory is excellent and his knowledge of historical stuff is top rate. As far back as I can remember, I've always enjoyed the job he does.
