Default Trifectas & the derby.

So what would be the best method for playing trifectas for this Kentucky derby. Would it be boxing a bunch of horses or taking a stand on a few and keying lots of price horses underneath? Can anyone give me a link to a an easy to use cost analysis for trifectas? Bored at work and I want to work on selections and bankroll for sat.

thanks!

box 8 horses, then play multiples with big brown, or whatever favorite you like on top, this will add up to about $500 in plays, if you box 7 about $300 counting some of the multiples. theres a good chance you will hit a monster and if the fave wins hopefully you will have the multiple, this has worked for me in past derbys, good luck

If I decide to grace CD with my $,

given 1 as my key longshot play
2,3,4 as BB, CJ, Pyro
5-9 as other longshot contenders
10 a wild longshot

1/2,3,4/5-9 $18
2,3,4/1/5-9 $18
1/5-9/2,3,4 $18
5-9 /2,3,4/1 $18
1/5-10 /5-10 $30
$94 total

Default i'm considering....

something like this

9-13-19
9-13-19
9-13-19-1-5-6-10

believe that's $30 for a $1

I would take the best long shot you like and key him with 5 other horses

$20 for every position
and then bet a Superfecta with him 4th

Well not having a large bankroll I figured I would try keying Pyro how does this sound . I used the calculator above

$1 tri key
Pyro/ CJ, SA, Z fortune , Dennis of cork, BB, Court Vision, Visionaire
$42

$1 tri key
CJ, Z fortune, Dennis of Cork, Big brown/ Pyro/ CJ, SA, Z fortune , Dennis of cork, BB, Court Vision, Visionaire
$24

$1 tri key
CJ, Z fortune, Dennis of Cork, Big brown/ CJ, SA, Z fortune , Dennis of cork, BB, Court Vision, Visionaire /Pyro

Yes, I am leaving out Smooth Air, Court Vision, and Visionaire out of the win place.

Kind of new to structuring trifecta keys so any input would be appreciated!

I think your on the right track eagle. You have your key horse in all three slots with contenders you think can run with him. Well done and good luck
