Wow.

I'm shocked they didn't take the winner down.

Again, I am guilty of redboarding my ass off, but I have to say I would not have argued for one second had they taken him down.

What makes me sick is that I have had such a horrible year betting horses that before the Preakness I drastically cut down the size of my bets. And now I'm on a roll. Not that I'm gonna complain about an exacta that pays almost 200-1, but I never play $5 exacta boxes. Not since college.

Still shocked they kept the winner up.

Who would admit to having a such a horrible year at the track that he had to cut down the size of his bets other than someone who was telling the truth?

I don't remember ever seeing an exacta where the dams of the 1-2 finishers were Grade I winners. And if it has happened, I guarantee you the exacta didn't pay $392.

The way it came across was that you were playing 'cheap' at $5, like you were a $20 exacta player.....

My losing $200 Pick 4s and losing $1,200 Pick 6s have been well-documented over in Selections.

And I gave out a winning Pick 6 once that LOST money. Travers Day 2006. That was fun....and embarassing.

Unfortunately, I do.

What's even more embarassing about this exacta is that there wasn't an ounce of real handicapping for me. I took the colts by the two dams that I recognized, and threw in the Zito horse, who I liked, and who didn't run a step.

It's better to be lucky than good.

That race was loaded with pedigree. 3rd place finisher Open Sleigh was out of Call Now, who won the Del Mar Debutante (then Gr2, now Gr1). Elusive Gift in 4th was out of Grade 3 winner Christmas Gift (who also produced Gr1 winner Christmas Kid). Bob's Star (6th) and Yield Bogey (7th) were also out of Graded stakes winners. Even the last place horse was a 1/2 to Johannesburg...

Craziest progeny-pedigree exacta: La Villa Rouge over Better than Honour in a MSW. It really happened, look it up.

What an absolutely pedigree-loaded field. Odd that they'd all show up in a 7F turf MSW.
