Default Looking For Some Wager Guidance @ Belmont

My history is I only bet 4 races a year (the TCs and BC). And I only pick a horse to win. My lifetime record is 7-4 including Big Brown ($200.00 to win) in the KD and Preakness. So I am up about $540 this year (obviously the lionshare won in KD).

My budget for The Belmont is $300. I am planning to bet 200.00 on Big Brown to Win only because I love the horse and it makes watching and cheering that much more of a rush for me. So I am not straying from my winning $200.00 format with BB.

What I am asking for help with is the additional $100 I have to wager. I know my payout on Big Brown will be minimal if he wins. Any suggestions what to do with the other $100?

I have replayed the KD several times and was impressed with Dennis of Cork's finish. I was feeling great about a bet on him across the board but learned his jockey will not be Borel, so now I don't know. I also like Tale of Ekati. I'm not sold on Casino Drive. Help!

Take your other $100 to the track tomorrow & play a daily double in the Brooklyn w/Angliana & me on Saturday.

The jockey switch from Borel to Albarado won't matter at all. If you really insist on betting $200 to win on Big Brown but you like Denis I'd say either put the other hundred on him to win (you should get at least 7 or 800 back that way) or play a $100 Exacta Denis with Big Brown - that would return like $2500. If you're just in it for the rooting interest and not to make money then there's no reason to get too complicated. But, there are definitely better ways to play Big Brown than to bet him to win.

It seemed like Borel implored the same strategy with Denis that he did with Street Sense. Coming from way back and then riding the rail to pass all but two. I have no interest of picking Denis over Big Brown.

Please don't anyone egg me for this but I do not know what an Exacta is? Can you explain the bet? I'm kinda wet. Sorry.

It's the one-two finish.

That would be hard to do since I live in Scottsdale, AZ. I only want to spend it in the Belmont race.

So if I play BB to Win and Denis to place in that order that would be my exacta? And that could win me $700-$800. And I am assuming that is based on a $100 bet?

If you played a $100 Exacta 1 with 4 it'd probably pay like a grand. . . maybe less.

Ooops I meant BCC. I won on Invasor and lost on Street Sense in my two previous BCC bet.

As a sidenote, was that Bernardini's last race?

i admire your discipline. i lose money betting big days but still can't resist an opinion on all the races. how you restrain yourself is beyond me.

given the excellent track record, i look forward to your bcc selection.

Go for it. I won't be playing that way but it's a decent stab if you like Denis to run second.

I'd go for the glory...you may win small amounts with the Big Brown win bet, If you only make win bets, I'd bet the other $100 on Guadalcanal who may be 150-1 or $10-$50 win bets in some combo depending on what or whom you like on the other 9 horses in case something happens to Big Brown. I'm not very smart though...the others on here probably have much better ideas than me.

No it wouldn't. Go to Brennan's Sports Pub on Scottsdale Rd. and Thunderbird. They have simulcast for NYRA. A few nice pool tables as well.....

Wow....that is where I go to place my bets. I don't stick around though. It is fun to return to cash in the ticket.

Save the money for your air conditioning bill.

He lives in a place that is hotter than Death Valley and the truth is that it is too hot to go outside and you dont want to turn on your computer for fear of the air conditioner going out.

I'm more concerned about the gas pump. Yesterday I hit $100.00 to fill up. Iy was shocking.

I'd love to win that tank of gas back. C'mon give me some Belmont advice with that 100.00.

I'm looking at BB to win for $200.00 and possibly $100.00 exacta on BB and Denis of Cork. If I win, that might cover summer air-conditioning and one tank of gas.

Put it all on the BB- Casino Drive Exacta. All $300. Personally I am boxing the two for $200 and hoping Casino Drive wins and it pays in the $20 range.

Denis of Cork and all the other are too slow to beat either Casino Drive or Big Brown.

Big Brown and Casino Drive are a lock to run 1-2 with a 15-20% shot CD beats BB.
