Default Sirius/XM

I've had XM for years now. ATR is only on Sirius. Since the merger I haven't been able to get any information on when I will be able to get ATR. Anyone have any info on this?

SRP,

There are still details to be worked out regarding each others equipment from what we're being told. Info as soon as we're given further explanation of the 'next steps'.

Pretty exciting though obviously, as it opens up the possibility of more than doubling the potential audience for the show...

Thanks for the update Steve. Looking forward to hearing the show on a more frequent basis. Hopefully it will be up and running by Breeders Cup time.

I hope it's sooner. Have two 7 hour drives coming up in Sept. Having that to listen to would make driving it a ton more enjoyable.

I can only imagine some of the problems they've got.... with one of my old jobs, I've sold electronic parts that should be in their satellites/receivers, etc. Those are extremely complicated systems (let alone the software for them, which is 100X worse).

I could swear I asked this same question about equipment almost two years ago.......they don't exactly break speed records with developing technology for radio do they?

I thought I heard that they were going to run as two seperate companies for some time before they merged programming.

I got a life time subscription to Sirius and am wondering if that will go in the trash once it's finalized. Hope not.

You're probably right. They can't just launch a new satellite next week tell their whole customer base that all receivers are now obsolete and everybody will have to buy a new one. I guess it's possible that they have enough resources on one of the satellites to carry all programming that they can switch the customer base over to, but more than likely the customer's receivers aren't compatible with both satellites anyway.

XM's website says that the first combined subscriptions are supposed to be out this fall.
