Default Trying To Make Money On Big Brown Today...

Can somebody let me know if this is a wise betting scenario.

First and foremost, I believe BIg Brown will win the Haskell today. While there is no real money to be won on him as a 1-2 favorite, I was thinking about trying another bet.

That is to bet every possible trifecta, as long as Big Brown wins. Any thoughts?

I think it's pretty safe to say that if you bet every trifecta possible with Big Brown on top you will def. be losing money.

That isnt the worst play in the world.....it will cost you 30.00 for every 1.00 tri....you will need the longest shot to run second and 3rd....to make money.
good luck
Maybe try a pik 3 or 4 ?

It's not even close to a good play, unless you're just looking for a little action and not to make money.

Why do you say that? If he wins, then I am guaranteed a trifecta. How is that losing money?

Again, if he wins, how is that not a good thing?

it is not a good thing because -
if you key him on top and have to invest $30 and it pays $6 you lose. The only way to make money on the race is for Big Brown to be pulled up like he was in the Belmont.

I'm not betting the race. The field is too short and the chances of BB being beat by this group is slim

It's losing money if all your bets cost $30 and you get back $18 for the trifecta.

$18 plus the $30 = $48 which is a net gain of $18. I am not trying to be smart, just confirming my math is correct?

No, lets say you bet all the tri's which I guess would be $30. You hit the bet and the trifecta pays $18. That means that out of the $30 you bet, you only get $18 of it back. So it would be a net loss of $12.00. You don't get back what the tri pays and your original bet.

*smacks forehead*

He's saying the trifecta is likely to pay around $18 TOTAL, not $18 profit. Personally, I think you're unlikely to even get your money back.

Oh......then that is not a good bet. Damn I still want to root for Big Brown and get some action. I still have Derby and Preakness winnings on him to burn even though I gave back a little at the Belmont. ANY OTHER SCENARIOS AS LONG AS I CAN STILL BET BIG BROWN?

Save your money and bet him if he runs in the Travers, I'll be glad to take your money!

No I have been waiting two long months to watch Big Brown atone. Something went wrong in The Belmont. He wasn't himself. I must bet him today.

If that is the way you feel, nobody can help you here.

There is a huge wagering menu out there today. Find something that you can make money on and root root root for your boy Big Brown without betting on him. There is nothing wrong with rooting for a horse without a betting interest in the race.
