Default Delaware Park 8/6 Race 7

I would be livid if I would have had this exacta yesterday. 9 horse field, MSW going 1 mile on the grass. A 16-1 shot wins ($35.20) the race followed by a 24-1 shot second (pays $28.00 to place), they were the 3rd and 4th longest shots in the field. There was $75,843 in the exacta pool.

The $2 exacta pays $431.80. I didn't bet the race, so I had no interest in the outcome, but that is just downright theivery. Im not much of a conspiracy theorist it comes to horse racing...but this stinks of something seriously wrong IMO.

That actually isn't an unreasonable number. My formula for "par" exacta payoffs is win price X 1/2 the place price X 90%, which in this case works out to $443.

I figured it was just a lot of money in the exacta pool with Tiz It second, but even then it seemed very low.
I remember thinking the same thing... but then I thought maybe it was because Joppa was really not 35-1 in the exacta pool since he was only like 10-1 ML and honestly a ridiculous price at 35-1 (even though i didn't have him anywhere near my tickets) and Tiz It running second as usual probably didn't help. That was a big, tough field though. NYRA exotic payoffs are consistently lower than anywhere else, the bettors are much sharper IMO, which is why i was so surprised at the early pick 4 payoff yesterday.

Good hit there... my one and only good hit this meet was Skills Coach

Thanks Phil. Never heard the formula done that way.
