Hey Jess Jackson, Pro Ride is 87% Real Dirt
I was listening to Race Talk Las Vegas with Ralph Siraco on Tuesday. He had on Magna COO Ron Charles to talk about the upcoming Oak Tree meeting and the Breeders' Cup. Ron Charles said something I had not heard or read before. The new Pro Ride surface is composed of 87% old fashioned dirt. They do not use any wax or sand in this surface. It's composed of mostly dirt, with rubber, fibers, and a binding agent. It's much different than the other synthetic surfaces, which do not use dirt, but sand, fibers, wax and rubber. I suspect it will play much more like dirt than the other surfaces as well. Mr. Charles said that he had pointed out the large percentage of dirt composition to the media, but had also not seen it in print anywhere.
Jess Jackson, I think Curlin will be able to handle a surface that's mostly dirt. You should have had him at Oak Tree for the Goodwood instead of running in the JC Gold Cup. It is the perfect prep for the Classic. |
