Default What's your take?

The short version is this... should the Eclipse Awards be voted on by fans?

Absolutely NOT!!!! In fact, the awards should be done away with with the exception of HOY and I think that award should be voted on by owners, trainers, and riders, with the only rule being that you can't vote for a horse that you ride, train or own.

i don't think anyone should vote on. i think there should be criteria set, and points awarded for top efforts. whoever gets the most points, gets the award.

not in any way, shape nor form. look what's happened to the other sports where things are voted on by fans.

screwed up and basically ruined baseball, hockey and nba's all-star games (all a popularity contest now... not who's the best player that year), also the nfl pro-bowl's the same way.... let alone college football and the stupid human polls there (where's the playoff?).

eclipse awards should be voted on by the people that know the situation the best... the horsemen (owners, trainers and jocks).

that would keep politics out of it
but horses don't race enough for it to work

regardless of how often they raced, they'd get points for a top effort.

No.

I'd much rather have a panel of judges vote. Say 3 of them.

pg1985, Quiet Chris and GRITS.

I think the Eclipse awards should be a vote done by the peers of whomever is eligible.

Breeders voting for breeders.

Trainers for trainers

Idiots for jockeys.

Horses for horses.

I would be most interested in hearing who Big Brown would vote for, since he is an exceptionally intelligent horse.
