I heard Larry Jones talking about him on Equine Forum Saturday morning. You can listen to the archived interview on www.horseracingradio.net. He did say the Remsen is most likely and then the colt will join the stable in New Orleans. Very nice colt - purchased for $800k. Rick Porter owns. It would be nice to see Jones and Porter win the Derby with this one after what they endured with Eight Belles. BTW, Old Fashioned opened at 150-1 in the Vegas Derby futures and took some quick money.

Thanks so much for the link.

BTW, the place and show runners from Old Fashioned's debut both came back to win their next starts. Sunday Blitz easily won the race before Old Fashioned's Delaware romp and Doc's Friend, another from Jones' barn, scored last week (at Philly, I think).

Not really, but Meadowlake had some runners that could go long (Meadow Star obviously, also Greenwood Lake)... Barbaro had Carson City on the bottom.

I know the Delaware races can be totally phony but this one excites me.

Those Larry Jones horses sure do run well at Delaware.

Not all of the Delaware races are phony lest we forget where Barbaro broke his maiden so it's not like this would be an unprecedented event with Old Fashioned.....you may have something with this one especially if he dusted the field in his next.

Barbaro, Afleet Alex, Smarty Jones, Sky Diva, Rockport Harbor, Hard Spun and many more major NY andnational winners have come out of the mid tlantic over recent years. There are plenty of good horsemen in that area and any of them can do a good job if they get a top quality animal.

The slot money at those tracks is going to lead to more top quality horses running in that region.

The dam of Old Fashioned, Collect Call, is a 1/2 sister in blood to Mitterand, who ran quite well at 9f. (Mitterand was by Hold Your Peace, sire of Meadowlake, out of the second dam of Collect Call). Collect Call herself won the British Columbia Oaks and placed in the Kentucky Oaks and her dam was by dual Arc winner Alleged, which counter-balanced the Meadowlake speed.

He had a wide run but I wouldn't necessarily say he won easily, taking the length of the stretch to pass the speed (that didn't change leads). Of note in this race is the horse that BOLTS late turn, dumping Bravo and cutting across from the rail. Now, THAT was acceleration.

Given the turmoil from your Canary Island excursion I assume we need to check this for accuracy.
