Default US 2007 3YO's v. Europe 2008 3YO's

Any thought on how they compare? Curlin, Street Sense, Hard Spun, Any Given Sat, Rags, etc. v. Zarkava, Henry, New Approach, Raven's Pass, Goldikova, Conduit, etc.

For as much talk about how great our 3YO crop was last year, I'm not sure at the top this years' group of Euros isn't better...

Zarkarva is easily the best of the group.

The best of the American 07 group is probably Tueflesberg.

You are gonna get beat up for saying that on here.

But if he would have had assmu, nafzger, jones or pletcher as his trainer who knows. He obviously accomplished alot with a trainer who gets zero out of her runners. ( and I will get beat up for saying this).
He was as good looking a horse as any of them, which is saying a lot when you look at Hard Spun and Curlin.

I know if I had a few Broodmares I woud take a serious look at him. He is not gonna get the book of mares that Hard Spun, Any Given Sat, and Street Sense will get at Darley. He has a comparable pedigree with those and could surprise if he gets any quality matings.

It's not even close. The Euro's were far better. Zarkava was easily the best horse of the bunch. Her and Goldikova both beat older males. The rest of the Euro's all beat older horses too. And not just cheap older horses like Hard Spun and AGS did last year but to level ones. Curlin was the best of ours and as a 4yo, he was gunned down by Raven's Pass and Henry.....and it's very arguable that Goldikova was as good as or better than they were. I don't think it's any comparison at all and I'd say this Euro class of 2008 was one of the best 3yo classes I've seen in my 22 years as a fan.

i agree... well maybe not the last sentence as I havent thought it through that hard... nor do I have 22 years of horsey racing experience.

But the 08 3yo's in Europe are much much better than 07 US 3yo's.

Lets see:

Ravens Pass > Curlin
Henry > Hard Spun/SS
Zarkarva > all of em
Gold > Rags

yeah no brainer here folks.

Curlin at 3, especially at the Breeders' Cup, was pretty damn good...
