Default Hollendorfer and Jimson Weed

Interesting drug for horses. The little I know about it started by reading Hunter S Thompson, where he refers to it as an extrememly potent hallucinogenic, I think:

From Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scopolamine

Jimson Weed from erowid.org:

Wonder if they were using some "holistic-natural" thing to "cure bleeders"? (they were trying something to dry up a horse that always scopes with alot of mucus?)

also supposed to be one of the hallucinogens carlos casteneda and his old indian pal imbibed.

i did peyote, mushrooms, and acid when i was younger but was always warned off this stuff.

too bad. it grows wild all over the hills in my neighborhood.

what would this do for a horse anyway?

Hello, Hi I'm God

The Wiki links are interesting, so are the erowid.org links, especially this book:
http://www.erowid.org/library/books/..._warfare.shtml

The scopalamine is used for more than a few medical reasons(aside from the human recreational/spiritual reasons), and it is an adjunct to opiate pain medication.

Where do you live that has this growing?(for all

She's a crooked Sheriff in a real straight town
She opened the door shake shake the lights go down
Clover honey and the Jimson Weed
Red leather skirt way up above her knees
Oh yeah, my baby's lowdown

She's a gone lost dirt road
There ain't no way back I been told
Well she's a story they all tell
She's a rebel, she's a yell
Oh yeah, my baby's lowdown

White heat in a cold rain
I'm a mergin here in your mergin lane
Jockey La Fayette, Big Eyed Al

The second hand moon's shining for my gal
She's a big red flag in a mean bullpen
She'll steal it from you, sell right
Back to you again
Well she's a wild rose, she's not settled
Cold gun of ice blue metal, oh
My baby's lowdown

White heat in a cold rain
I'm a mergin here in your mergin lane
Jockey la Fayette, Big Eyed Al

She's a cheap motel with a burned out sign
She'll take care of you definitely every time
She got a stolen check book and leg's upto here
Singing into a hairbrush
Right in front of the mirror
Oh yeah, my baby's lowdown

( sorry, this thread just reminded me of this song; I'll go away now)

socal.

once things dry out in late spring and through the summer, it's one of the few green plants you see in chaparral. it has a white trumpet shaped flower.

when i say it's everywhere, i mean i've spotted it growing in the median between the e/b and w/b lanes of the 118 freeway from moorpark to simi valley. and along every trail i've ever hiked in the santa monica and santa susana ranges. i used to see it about 150 feet outside my front door before they built a new housing tract and paved everything.

it's not called jimson weed without reason.

I saw this bumper sticker in 'toga this past summer:

"Good jockeys don't let horses win trippin"

Or was it "Trippin' horses don't let bad jockeys cross the line"?

Before Dr. Gonzo enters the discussion...Buscopan, a relatively new drug used to treat colic in horses, is a derivative of scopolamine.

I thought that was the case but I didn't post it because I wasn't sure if my memory was accurate.

I read a story once that it is also the new date rape drug in some south american countries....it makes people zombies and unlike some other date rape drugs, with this one the amnesia prevents identification of the offenders.

LinksI posted state scopolamine is used in Thailand, among other places, to drug tourists and rob them. Says most people on this drug wind up in the hands of authorities first(before the mental hospital) as they acting very bizarre. A book on chemicals studied by the U.S. in the 1950's, states the effects of a very similar compound to Jimson weed(scopolamine) causes delirious states of mind for a day or two. One interesting side effect was the "smoking of imaginary cigarettes"
