Default Ya wanna know what is wrong with american politicians...

Outside of the fact that this is a terrible choice for labor secretary the comments by Joe Baca are disturbing.

Rep. Joe Baca (D-Rialto) had cautioned that Obama's legislative agenda might face roadblocks unless more Latinos were installed in top positions
.

then

Since then, Obama has said he will nominate Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colo.) as secretary of the Interior, and now Solis as Labor secretary. Prominent Latino officials are now praising the new Cabinet's makeup.

In an interview Thursday, Baca said: "We're glad he listened to our voices and listened to the Hispanic community that came out and delivered for him on election day. It's a great day for the Hispanic communit

So instead of saying that Obama needs to consider qualified Latino candidates Baca threatens to block future legislation of his own party unless the pres elect did what he wanted. In public. And apparently no one has a problem with this considering the cheer leading of Latino officials. Maybe all the people that he nominated will do a great job and are completely qualified (though the labor appointment is a curious choice considering the culpability of labor unions in Detroits demise). But the fact that they may have been picked mainly because of heritage under the pressure of threatened hostility to as of yet unformed legislationis troubling. This is not a Democrat/Republican thing as the other side is unduly influenced by the religion of its candidates which in almost all cases has zero to do with their ability to do the job assigned.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
