A Fantastic Quote On College Versus Pro Basketball
"The difference between college basketball and the professional game is that in college it's about the name on the front of the jersey, not the back. "

Agree kids now a ONLY care about themselves trying to get either in NBA or Europe to play. They could care less about academics, personal development, public service. It's all about their getting gear-gifts (Ipods and stuff from tournaments) and them listening to their people instead of coaches.
The team thing went down the drain when all the kids started to leave the college scene for NBA in droves against good advice. Here's the breakdown: If your a stud...you spend one year in college and then your off to NBA. If your very good...you might stick around for your soph year to develop more then your gone. If your average major D1, you play your 3rd and 4th years and hope you get drafted but will probably end up playing in low European or Asian leagues. And it that doesn't work out...you blame the college for not preparing you for a life outside of basketball when every academic person at the college and coach pleaded with you to go to class and prepare for a job.
