seriously tho, you can't help wondering just how far this will go, and how many people it will affect. i've got a bad feeling they haven't even really begun to find who all lost money-or how much. and yesterday i heard on the radio that madoff (who, last i heard, was a free man while awaiting trial) mailed about a million or so $'s worth of property to family members in an attempt to hide assets. what a piece of work! |

One of the financial shows was saying that plenty of fund managers did do their basic due diligence, and based upon that passed this cheat by. Some say the signs were there.

It's not going to hurt only the people who were investing with him at the time this all came out- because it was a big Ponzi scheme, people who invested, thought they made money but got out years ago may be liable for their "profits." It'll take years to sort out.

there was a pic of him at the court house yesterday w/ a bullet proof vest on. He's basically a POS and i truely do feel sorry for all those who have been duped. On the other hand it was a hedge fund and they're a different breed and not really regulated. Shapiro's thoughts on some sort of Congressional releif kinda through me for a loop though -bt- |

So tell me all,how is Mr. Madoff any different than all of our senators and congressmen and women, who keep running the printing press and running us and our future taxpayers deeper and deeper in debt.Social Security is a prime example. They are no different than Mr.Madoff.And Obama has admitted that the presses will continue to run.We are all getting robbed!

it would be comical if it were not so sad. shapiro bought the brooklyn bridge from madoff. wow, great judgment investing millions in one guy, greed kills. he also bought into and sold the idea of the poly tracks in california. you know the ones a trainer called a mine field just last week. i would laugh if it had nothing to do with horse racing, but these are the fools that are running it into the ground! God help us all. santa anita has been changed so many times to the tune tens of millions $$$$, what a joke! does it surprise me that shapiro got taken? not really

Too bad that turkey Shapiro foisted the debacle of fake track on CA. That is an example of the judgement of people running this sport. They are so far REMOVED from the reality of everyday life, that any shyster with a good story and "the right connections" can sell these dolts anything...including fake track. Shapiro got what he deserved. And NOW, he wants a "bailout" from Congress? Of course. Shapiro, like all his "fellow turkeys", feel they are "entitled". |

And I do agree the bailout part is a bit much, although the tax adjustment seems like it might be reasonable. How can you pay taxes on profits that never existed? |
