Default 2/15: Santa Anita ($145k C/O; 2 Stakes)

Saturday's Magna 5 will be filed under the heading 'might of been' for me, as 2 decisions foiled the chance at the $9,900 payoff. Started off well, and was shocked to see Barbara Fritchie winner Royale Michelle ($22.20) ignored at the windows to start the sequence. The West Virginia invader absolutely fit in with the group, and though KMc's Seventh Street was obviously best after the disasterous start, things happen in races. Went just 2 deep while tabbing the straight trifecta in the SA 4th, and Medzendeekron ($7.20) came through. In Leg D (GG 4th), produced the straight triple with Mutak Gold ($6.20) on top while 2 deep.

The 2 bad moves? Duke of Homberg looked slow to me in a deep Hallandale Beach, but playing totally against the $8.00 winner was the first error in judgement. And in the SA 5th nightcap, I revised the selections after the race came off the downhill turf and removed winner G's Heavenly Union ($24.80) from the picks and the wager... Uggh. This is what makes the Magna 5 fun to play however, as it frequently forces you to examime your thought process when building tickets.

Santa Anita gives us all yet another chance at a $500,000+ pool with another P6 carryover as the cards continue to be be brutally tough daily at the Great Race Place. Hope you did OK Saturday!

Obviously, Desert Code is the best horse in the Daytona, but he has 2 things against him today. The main one is the 1 hole. You can see what happened the last time he had it down this hill. It s-u-c-k-s(always been that way.) That's why I (after one race) had the confidence to call Lethal Heat "Superwoman" (she broke poorly from that 1 hole, and overcame all the trouble that comes with it.) Then, you've got Gryder involved. With all the riders here, he uses one of our least talented ones. His ability is more suited for Monmouth, or the Meadowlands. This is one of the worst off the pace riders we have. It's always been that way. Matter of fact, wait for Atticus Jack to run back, and you'll see how much of a kick that horse will put in with an off-the-pace jock. D.C. is gunna have to be used early to get position, because if he is off the pace, then good luck taking low odds off the pace with Gryder. Even if ya don't agree about Gryder, the 1 hole is a handicap. Then ya got a lil bitch horse called "Sky Cape"(not good enough to win for you, but easily good enough to beat you.) There's(of course) a Mitchell down the hill(LETHAL.) Also, DARK ISLANDER, M Diamond, and Euroglide are 3 other decent turf sprinters. Maybe, skip the 3rd, and watch the white trash go around an oval in the other Daytona.

Why they put blinks on Z humor if they weren't gunna go forward? Gomez, M Baze, and T Baze all took back. Puss-e party. Looked like they felt sorry for their blue-collar friend's whiff in Phoenix yesterday.
