Default Why we are screwed #47

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123655553728965955.html

By the way leftys this is a piece praising Obama so you dont have to ignore it.

"Critics of a cap-and-trade system are correct when they claim it will raise the prices of goods and services whose production and use emit carbon. That's exactly the point: Higher prices are necessary to encourage energy efficiency and the development of renewable energy, to discourage carbon emissions, and to reduce the societal costs of global warming.
The Obama auction plan will also generate substantial government revenues, about 80% of which will be used for financing a refundable tax credit of up to $400 for individuals and up to $800 for families. The result will be tax cuts for 95% of working Americans. The remaining 20% of the auction revenue will be used to finance investments in energy efficiency, clean energy and smart-grid technologies."

The bolded part is an interesting take until you consider that America IS NOT GLOBAL!!! So the American public will pay the price in higher consumer goods and services for the good of the rest of the world? This is so ignorant I cant believe that she would include it if we were swimming in money as opposed to a huge global recession. So the American consumer takes the bullet but HEY we may get $400 buck back!!! Tell that to one of the unemployed trying to feed his family. Of course this isnt even taking into consideration that these percentages are pie in the sky and the fact that "clean energy" cost much more than non clean energy. The only fact to come out of this is the American consumer will pay more in the form of a regressive tax which effects the lower income citizens more than wealthy ones.

Obama himself admitted electricity will 'skyrocket'. So you get $400 to pay the $1000 your electric bill goes up? Not to mention paying more for virtually everything manufactured and transported. We also get to pay for the electrity for those 100's of thousands of electric government cars ordered. It's a hidden tax that will hit the poor the hardest. But blinks on!
