![]() Unfortunately at best this is dereliction of duty and at worse a criminal case needing a willing Prosecutor and overall why we’re all phucked.
Rep. Jane Harman , the California Democrat with a longtime involvement in intelligence issues, was overheard on an NSA wiretap telling a suspected Israeli agent that she would lobby the Justice Department reduce espionage-related charges against two officials of the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the most powerful pro-Israel organization in Washington. In exchange for Harman's help, the sources said, the suspected Israeli agent pledged to help lobby Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., then-House minority leader, to appoint Harman chair of the Intelligence Committee after the 2006 elections, which the Democrats were heavily favored to win And that, contrary to reports that the Harman investigation was dropped for "lack of evidence," it was Alberto R. Gonzales, President Bush's top counsel and then attorney general, who intervened to stop the Harman probe. Why? Because, according to three top former national security officials, Gonzales wanted Harman to be able to help defend the administration's warrantless wiretapping program, which was about break in The New York Times and engulf the White House. As for there being "no evidence" to support the FBI probe, a source with first-hand knowledge of the wiretaps called that "bull****." http://static.cqpolitics.com/harman-...098436&cpage=1

Contradicting an earlier statement, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Wednesday that she had been briefed about recorded surveillance of U.S. Rep. Jane Harman, according to The New York Times. How she would forget such a briefing was not explained. Pelosi and Harman are rivals who are known for not liking each other, and the recordings in question involved an alleged quid pro quo by which a rich donor would hold back on giving money to Pelosi if she didn’t give Harman a seat on the House intelligence committee. http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/p...22/206099.html

I can only imagine if a Republican had told a suspect on trial for espionage he would lobby for redued charges and in turn that spy would lobby say Denny Hasert so said Republican could become chair of the Intelligence Committee. A couple questions immediately jump out? 1) Why is Isreal spying on us? 2) Why does said spy have the ability to lobby Nancy Pelosi? 3) How can a Rep. Atty General go along with a quid pro quo involving an Intelligence Committee Chair for reduced espionage charges to cover his own butt for illegal wiretapping using a Dem congresswoman who was tapped to defend him and be if not in jail, on trial? The fact this involved 'fixing' an Intelligence case with the reward being an Intelligence Committee Chair makes this far worse IMO to say Blago selling a senate seat for just cash. But I'm sure to some this is no big deal except the part involving Gonzales. ![]()
